Porsche Design Shop prices

Anyone else noticed that on porsche design website all prices state in brackets (incl 15% VAT) however 17.5% is being charged on everything i looked at. Spoke to Porsche and the telephonist/legal expert tells me that Porsche do not take money from cred card right away (yeah right!) or if delivery from Germany then transaction will be after 1 Jan 2010 when VAT returns to 17.5%. VAT is surely charged at point of transaction and its a long while until 1 Jan. Porsche have dismissed me with rubbish excuses. Anyone bought stuff recently, you may well have overpaid!!

VAT should really be charged at the time of delivery.

Some 'Helpfull' traders often will raise an Invoice with the lower rate even if the delivery is after the Rate Change.

In the case of the payment for the goods, one could pay on Invoice or on deliveryBoth are technically incorrect.

In any event, with a helpfull trader bending the rules, I would suspect that the detection rate by HMRC would be pretty low.

I thought the vat rate was determined at the point of sale ie: invoice date. Must be some vat inspectors on here who can enlighten us [:)]

Err - I am on the opposite side - HOW TO BEAT the VAT and TAX man (legally of course !) - avoidance, not evasion...[:)]

You can pay for something but if it has not been delivered, there has not actually been a Sale.

QED The rate of VAT is determined when the goods are Sold and Title passes on payment.

We recently had a VAT inspection at my Company and the Inspector was quite friendly. At the end of the inspection he seemed quite sad that he had found nothing out of order. As he left he said he was expected to find at least £10,000 of VAT errors which would be charged to the Company being inspected.

Mmmm ...... the wife bought me some Porsche Design goodies for Christmas at our local OPC and she didn't realise she could get discount by producing her PCGB card!

One present was a 911 Chronograph wrist watch! Ouch!

Too late now I expect.
