I assume you are meaning a 220 bhp early-offset car.
There's one here:

What does the right one look like?
Is it a perfect garage Queen, or a solid basis for a project?
What Price-range?

No such thing as a series 1 Turbo - they are either 220bhp or 250bhp. Do you have a preference as they are quite different to drive from one another. Whats your budget ? Are you looking for a modified or unmodified example ?

Youll struggle for linen leather. Early series two 944s used a colour commonly called grey beige.

Yes looking for 220bhp I don't know what right one looks like as I havnt found it yet [:D]that's why I'm still looking don't want to pay more than 5k really but may stretch to 6k at a push

I would like original car and don't mind doing work to it but would like a solid example with not too many miles as I'm thinking of keeping this one long term

Yeah barely run in how much

I will probably be putting 30+ k on the clock while it's in my ownership so 250000 mile 944 I think will be just about dead

It won't, you know.

Mileage is pretty much irrelevant if the car is subject to thorough proactive maintenance. Nothing mechanical wears out on these cars that cannot be replaced.

My race car had 180k miles on the clock, didn't miss a beat all last season,so 250 k miles on a well maintained road car...easy peasy!

ORIGINAL: MarkK

With a 6k budget why not get a later one with more power ,bigger brakes and a LSD..?
More lag. Annecdotally more rusty. More likely to get a good 220 for the money?

;)

Agreed. A chipped 220 feels faster too, quicker rate of change if acceleration = more 'push in the seat'. Just don't get caught in a race with a chipped 250 car[:D]

Actually I might know of a mint 220 it is Metalic dark red and pretty perfect it is the father of one of the techs at OPC Leicester I am pretty sure it is for sale,i saw it on the ramps the other day I am going in tommorow I will see if it is still for sale,it is low milage and as you can imagine looked after to a very high standard.
I will get back to you.
