Porsche extended warranty Question

The same OPC that you mentioned (and I had been a longstanding customer) refused to issue an extension to the warranty as I had a hard-wired dashcam installed. If is had been attached to the cigarette lighter socket it would have passed. Their 6 year service was several hundred pounds more expensive than the OPC in East London.

I do not understand why a non-approved battery should invalidate the warranty. Do you? The main problem as I see it is that they can afford to turn away business as there are enough mugs who will pay for anything. Come the downturn in the economy there will be some squeals from some quarters!

Suggest you contact the dealer you bought your car from.

Good luck.

My main issue is they want to try to invalidate the existing warranty because of a non Porsche battery in order to get out of doing the repairs under warranty.

If i decide to extend the warranty with Porsche then i will have to change the battery it would seem

If the existing warranty was obtained with the non-warranty battery in-situ then they should honour the warranty. If they say the warranty was invalid I would demand my money back!

I took out an extended warranty with Motoreasy which was cheaper than the Porsche one and for 3 years. I have not had to use the warranty and the only proviso about this warranty was that the car had to pass a check with a Halfords service centre which it did with flying colours.

When I am in the market for my next new Porsche I will cast my net far and wide. I am fed up with the arrogance of some of these dealers.

It would seem to me that if they issued the current warranty with a non approved battery in situ that's their fault and not yours! The warranty was issued and they should honour it, in my humble opinion. Might be worth a word with Porsche Cars UK in Reading before you go any further. Anyone would think the PC themselves have to pay for the warranty work!

Just fit a Porsche approved battery, then all will be well, won't it?

The problem is Porsche are looking to invalidate the existing warranty and not pay for the repairs which just showed up on its 111 point check, yes of course we will change the battery to meet the criteria to extend the warranty for a further 2 years. But that doesn't solve the problem now

If you bought the car from an OPC you will have a case but as I assume you did not as it has 6 months warranty remaining you won’t have a case unfortunately as the Porsche warranty is very precise on the 111 point check. You as a new owner would be very unlikely to be able to get Porsche warranty to give you any of the remainder of the warranty charge back as you never paid it originally. Between the OPCs and Porsche cars everything has to fully conform at the point of claim not just the 111 point check else they refuse any claim for any work or part.

I agree with Clive.

I'd take your car back, get a Moll battery fitted. Then go to another OPC and start again none the wiser.

I think the OPC should refund the previous owner his warranty money (though they won't unless that owner asks for it) and your warranty is not actually valid.
