Porsche extended warranty

Excellent. There is nothing exhaust-related in the “exhaustive list” (not my pun) of items excluded due to wear in my Porsche extended warranty contract so nice to hear that your OPC appears to have read the contract rather than trying to claim it isn’t covered.

Great!!! Good to hear a good news story for a change. I must admit, as I was reading your post I was expecting the worst but sounds like your car will be sorted out soon.

Hi,

Porsche Cayman 981 GTS 2015. I Purchased the car in May 2020 with 16,000 miles and a Porsche extended
warranty until February 2021 and then extended it for 2 years. February 2023 I extended it for another 2 years at a cost of £1250.

It was recently booked for the 8th year service with 37,000 miles at my nearest OPC.
(Servicing has to be at an OPC to maintain the warranty).
I specified that the sports exhaust function was not working.

The report I received included…

Exhaust fixings heavily corroded with very little amount of metal holding exhaust flange together on Driver’s Side. Requires new fixings (Nuts, Studs & Gaskets). £745.97

Along with…

Exhaust System & Underbody Protection (corrosion, fixings, damage)

Sports exhaust valve seized. Have tried to unseize, but unsuccessful. Requires new exhaust. Warranty. Advise vehicle is rebooked as Parts are currently on Backorder from Germany with no ETA. Will order & update customer when Parts arrive. £3843.39

I rang the Service Advisor and queried the £745.97 charge for corroded fixings etc. as the exhaust was to be replaced under warranty, I suggested this should not be chargeable but be included under warranty. He spoke to the Technician working on the car who said that the charge was not appropriate and should have been omitted.

So; I am VERY pleased this is a warranty repair covered under the Porsche extended warranty scheme. I shall continue to extend the warranty and hope this might help other owners make the appropriate decision for themselves.

When I renewed my insurance two weeks ago (albeit on a 718 Spyder), I had the option of a cheaper (that really should be "less expensive"!) policy but I wouldn't be able to choose a repairer should the worst happen.

So, if I had have chosen the "cheaper" policy and it went into a non approved Porsche bodyshop/repairer, would I have voided my warranty both the three year one and in the future, the extended warranty when taken up?

I ask, having read previous posts about those wishing to extend their warranty having to have "services" repeated by an OPC if carried out by non OPC.

Regards

Bill
