Porsche introducing classic radio for us

I say classic but I mean classic style with a twist. It fits in the same space that current head unit resides in but is a combined Sat Nav and music system and is designed to be in character with older 911 interiors. There's not much info out yet but my friendly OPC parts chap has just sent me this:

Even at the price, I quite like the look of it. What do you think?[:)]

Gr8 idea but map will be dangerously far away from your line of sight, so assume aural instructions are clear!!

I believe it comes complete with a special Porsche phrase from the Sat nav lady......"in 100 yards the road will be straight, please overtake the loser in front" [:D]

It is very nice and a great idea from Porsche, but I think I would want a DAB receiver if I was going to splash out that much cash; otherwise not much use long term other than as a Satnav. Maybe just me?

I think that's an excellent point Meek. I'm no sound system techie and even I thought the same....especially since I'm expecting to own mine for at least another 20 years [:D]

Glad it is not only me thinking long term. Was chatting to my GF the other day about how I would want my funeral to be ( I know, how cheery and somewhat premature, I hope ) and I decided that I wanted to be buried in my 964. To be more precise, a little bit Saxon style - think Sutton Hoo. Not very likely I know, considering the environmental issues [:)]

Anyone tried DAB on real journeys? No way I'd buy a DAB for a mobile application when they don't yet work statically in large parts of the UK.

I would have expected Porsche to have come up with a better classic design than that Steve .... it looks a bit of a home made job.
Agree with JB wouldn't want to take my eyes off the road in an attempt to find those buttons!!!!
Anyway what better car to get lost in ;) ....
