Porsche Kendal are having a Cars & Caffeine event on Saturday 16th March starting at 10.00am and finishing at 12.00. To coincide with this event we have also arranged a visit to the UK importer of Chemical Guys who are based close by in Kendal.

Speaking to Greg I understand that some of you are going to Gibson Motorsport on this day, but for those that are not then you are more than welcome to attend. Any R3 Member is welcome to join us on the day if you would like [:)] For those who do not know them, Chemical Guys are one of the biggest car cleaning and detailing brands in the USA and have been selling in the UK for a number of years and have recently appointed a new importer for their products who luckily for us is based in Cumbria. The Team at Chemical Guys UK are going to welcome us from 12.00 onwards and will be providing us with coffee and bacon rolls/hot dogs whilst they demonstrate to us some of their extensive range of car cleaning products. You never know your car may be selected for some special treatment on the day. There will be exclusive deals and offers for all Porsche Club Members not only on the day but on going as Chemical Guys are looking to work with us at future events including our forthcoming Regional Show in May and our Concours event in June. Visit their website for more information : https://www.chemicalguysuk.co.uk/ Can you please inform us by text, email or comment below if you wish to attend the Chemical Guys event so they can plan the food on the day.

Hi Martin can you tell me what date concours is on in june ,is it at Porsche Center Kendal again thanks .

Steve.

Hi Steve

The Concours is being held at Porsche Kendal on Sunday 30th June. We will inform Greg of all the details and put on the Forum once we have sorted some of the details out but there will be a Visitors Class and also we are considering a Pride of Ownership Class at a lower level to get more enthusiasm for those new to the concours events. [:)]

Hi Martin, sounds an excellent idea, particularly for Ervin Jnr. who is still obsessed with keeping the car looking at it's sparkling best. He even berates me for taking it out in the rain, knowing there will be an hour's worth of cleaning at the end of it! It will also be good to visit Porsche Kendal as a few of my engine rebuild parts came from them, so we have a connection. See you there all being well.

Interested. It's quite a trip from here in Northumberland, so I will need to check the weather nearer the time. Probably only worth doing if it's a nice day and can enjoy the time on the road.

I've just noticed your signature. GT3 to a 718 ?! Wowser. I have to ask.. You've gone from one of the most loved Porsche engines to one of the most hated. How have you found the swap?

Pretty sure that the non-Porsche cars that didn’t make the signature will make up for it. ;)

The GT3 was an awesome car and on normal A roads the 718 is every bit as involving and probably more fun to drive as you can keep on the throttle more. It's no GT3 but a fantastic car and I like the engine with PSE fitted.

As Dave has said the replacements for the GT3 aren't on my signature as they are a Ferrari 488 GTB and a BMW M2 Competition [:D]

Ok makes more sense! Out of context it would be strange to swap a GT3 for a 718.

The M2 was on my shortlist when I ordered my 718. The Comp wasn't available at the time. I have other cars too (not as exciting as yours!) so I didn't really need any practicality and just wanted a fun sports car I could use often. I've never driven a GT3 so it's very reassuring to know that I'm not missing out in the driving fun with the 718. In my mind I would have imagined the GT3 to be a whole new level in driving involvement and 'sense of occasion'. I've been very happy with my little 718, for the money I can't think what else offers so much for so little. The only real downsides have been with fit and finish. The build quality is not as high as the 'perceived quality' if that makes any sense. I've had three warranty visits since getting it last year and I'm still suffering from some plastic trim rattles. My trusty Honda 'beater car' surpasses it in that sense.

Anyway sorry to take this off topic.. back to Chemical Guys and Kendal. Hope to make it if the weather is nice.

Hi Martin

Can you count me in please?

This is right up my street, cars, coffee, cleaning and Kendal!

Cheers

Graeme

Would anyone/ everyone like to meet up somewhere and set off all together to Kendal?

any thoughts/ideas?

Personally I will be traveling from Cramlington

Am I right in my understanding that as long as there are less than 12 cars we arent officially classed as a convoy so we will be complying with the relevant rules ?

I’m sorry we’re missing out, Stephen, we’ve had some great drives down to Kendal. When we’re stuck for time we use A69/M6, then Shap summit on the A6.

My favourlite though is coming back via Kirkby Stephen, Brough, Middleton-in-Teesside and Stanhope, and the roads around Derwent Reservoir. Great driving roads and scenery.

Have fun, the guys at Kendal always look after us.

Wow I'm in Seaton Delaval. Useful to know for future events.

I'm not going to make this one. As above it was always going to be weather dependent, and on account of the snow and ice forecast I won't really enjoy the drive across.

Hope to make the next one :)

Everything is organised and Chemical Guys have the bacon rolls etc. ordered for our arrival on Saturday lunchtime.

We look forward to seeing those of you that are joining us firstly at Porsche Kendal around 10.00 then onwards to Chemical Guys at 12.00.

The post code for both addresses in case you haven’t been before are :

Porsche Kendal : LA9 6BX Chemical Guys : LA9 7EN

Hi Martin,

Do you have any idea what the deals may be on the day? Maybe a blanket discount or likely to be on a few select items? If so, could I possibly trouble someone to price up some polishing pads and other small lightweight items (ie, I wouldnt ask someone to get me 3 x 5 litres of some things [:D])that an attendee might be able to post on to me 'down south'?

No worries if not, as I understand lots will be going on that day. I'm with R31 for Drive out West.

Thanks,

Mark
