I've finally taken delivery of my 912 after a 7 month delay! A silver 1968. I took it on a 100 mile round trip yesterday which was trouble free. It feels very different to the 911 I was using while the garage sorted my car out. Mostly I miss torque in the lowers revs. Also maybe it's because I'm not tall, 5'7''1/2 but the wiper blades are directly in my line of sight. I can't see a solution beyond sitting on a cushion.

I wanted to resort the porsche colours to the symbol on my hub caps. I was thinking about buying paint doesn't anybody know the correct colours and type of paint or should I get a professional to do? Any idea how much it will cost.

How can I get the clock to work again. I've been told a new battery will cost 200 quid but I new clock will be about 50 quid. I haven't seen any clocks on the net for a while. Is there a model solution to the clock problem? Many thanks for your help.

what??

not 100% what your asking.. the clock has no battery?

most clocks are broken because they have plastic gears..these wear and then brake. Also it then takes out the low solder fuse which then renders the clock almost useless. Then alot of people just solder the join thinging it's just broken when it's a fuse and then they might get abit longer out of it..

Yes check out the likes of Ebay and the for sale section of DDk for clocks.

They are about and i also can recomend Easy in San Fransico for parts like this..

Post up a pic of your car, and welcome to 912 owner ship

Oh ref seats most of the orginal seats have the custions flat over time and are worn I am 5 10 and don't have a problem but I now have Nurburge seats in the car..

So I am at the right height now

Are you sure your hubcaps had enamel badges? Your year should have tarnished chrome look crest.
If not you may have earlier optional enamel versions. I'd be surprised if all the enamel had come off though, I'd match your bonnet badge for want of anything else, assuming you have an original.

Welcome btw!

There are various instrument restorers in the Classic Car mags you could also try...

It's the tarnished chrome look crest. I assumed that they originally had the porsche colours? So I guess you are saying they should be chrome and colourless?

No colour just as they are, lovely [;)]

I agree with this. Folk are obsessed with "Porsche Coloured Centre Caps" (including me when I was buying my car) but I've just been looking at a 964 with the engraved silver caps and they are just beautiful, understated, class items.

(Mine has neither because it's a 4 and they came with a specific "Carrera 4" cap - which I don't really like)

it was only the later hub caps that had coloured badges anyway. 68- all the early ones where just silver in colour

you should be so lucky, i'm 5'2 and a bit. i looked out of the screen underneith the bit that the windscreen wipers wiped []. i found cushions slide, so i re-padded my seat and problem was solved.
in my 911 i can just about peep over the steering wheel []
