Porsche Museum & Factory Tour - Anything a first time visitor needs to know?

Hi All,

I'm in Stuttgart next week so have set aside a day for the museum and factory tour. Is there anything I should know before I go - pro tips from people who have been before on club trips, or anything that wouldn't be obvious to a daft lad from Houghton who doesn't speak German?

cheers

Jack

Have you booked the factory tour? If not then you’ll be very lucky if you find an English speaking one with a spare place. You have to email them for availability - don’t have the address to hand but Google is your friend.

You get PCGB discount on entry, on the tour and in the shop (or you did at least) so remember your membership card.

Easiest way to get there is the tram/train, takes you right to the door at Porscheplatz station. Leave time for a wander around the dealership across the road, their car park often has interesting stuff out back too.

The Boxengasse cafe in the museum is pretty good and you shouldn’t need to book, the posh restaurant is very good (allegedly) but you do need to book.

The Porsche museum isn‘t massive and you’ll probably have scooted round in an hour and a half, the Mercedes museum a bit further on the tram line is better and probably a full half day job - they often have deals where your ticket for one gets you a reduction in the other too.

Cheers Dave.

Yes, I have booked the factory tour in English. It wasn't easy and it also involved getting an earlier flight as the factory isn't open weekends, but its done.

I hadn't even considered food, but the cafe sounds good to me.

Don‘t get excited about taking lots of photos in the factory - they take your phone off you and lock it in a box!

There’s a coffee bar downstairs in the museum at the back before you go up to the exhibits too. Don‘t be shy speaking to the museum staff - one of them opened up the 919 LMP car for us to stick our heads in the cockpit and then take some pics, they’re only too happy to chat and show stuff off.
