Porsche Museum & Factory Visit.

Just thought I would report on a fantastic week in Germany, the highlights of which was a visit
to the Audi R8 assembly plant, the Porsche Museum & Factory visit.

This was organised by Richard Watling of PCGB assisted by Stuart Wilkinson.

We drove from the North East to Dover, via a weekend in Kings Lynn, up through Belgium, and then to Stuttgart, with two
overnight stops on the way.

We returned via the Ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle, and had one stop from Stuttgart to Amsterdam.
I drove 350 miles, in one day, almost non stop and the car was just singing.
I am pleased to report that my, almost 22 year old 964, (141,000 miles) was superb and returned 29 mpg.
I was very apprehensive about the trip, however it worked out fine. We covered 1,405 miles door to door.

Just one small point, petrol is over £7.00 a gallon in some places in Germany, so not a cheap trip.
Cameron hasn't moved over there, has he?

I would recommend this visit and really is a must for all Porsche lovers. The Porsche Museum has to be seen to be believed.

I can give more details and show some photographs at a future meeting.

Sounds like a brilliant adventure Ian, looking forward to hearing more about it. Well done to you and your good lady.
Greg.

Brilliant Ian,

let me know when you want to share your photos and I'll bring the projector and screen to the club night

Thanks for the comments Greg, Ash.

If you bring the projector to the next meeting Ash, I will gladly show the photograhs and give an indication
of costs etc.

However you might have a lot to talk about with the Workers Meeting which seems, was at the very least, interesting.

What's you view as to time scales for disscusion and photographs?

Your photos and the tale of your trip will be far more engaging than the recent board events I can asure you. Take as long as you need Ian as no doubt there'll be loads of questions from the floor.

Cheers

now there's a great idea Chris, no Le Mans Classic next year, so that would be a fabulous alternative European trip

Ashley - FYI if I'm in the BMW then I've always got a projector in the boot if you need one.

I'll be all sorted with the photographs costs etc for the next meeting.

Just need the projector. You boys will need to see the costs before making any rash decisions.

It can of course be done a lot cheaper than we did it, we used the trip as a holiday as well.

Next meeting is the 9th of May. Is that correct?

Ian,

Thanks for an interesting and informative slide show, its now been added to my list of must do trips[;)]
