Porsche museum Stutgart

A friend and I are thinking of a visit to the Porsche museum in Germany. Although it'd be great to drive down in the 944 we'd probably fly there - it's far cheaper and faster.

Has anyone been and is it worth the trip? We'd maybe tag on another location, possibly the Schlumpf museum in France (http://www.collection-schlumpf.com/en/schlumpf/) which is about 2 1/2 hours away and looks amazing.
 
If you are going to Stuttgart then a visit to both the Porsche and Mercedes Museums is a "must"; there you will see the evolution of the car and examples of all the cars they have ever made and their racing history. The Schlumpf is very interesting but it is like a vast car park; they have a wide variety of cars from most manufacturers. In order of priority for me the two German manufacturers are One and Two with the Schlumpf collection Third.

This sounds great, looking on the website it says 'open to clubs', does PCGB count for this? It sounds like it's more of a group thing, not sure me and my friend (non Porsche owner) would qualify I'm afraid.
 
Anyone can book - they run English tours every weekday.

Either book through Porsche, or the Stuttgart Tourist office - but you must book first!
