Thinking of going to the Porsche museum this summer and was wondering if anyone has been and what its like? Worth making a 100 mile detor to visit?

Brilliant now compared to what it used to be (when it was in a shed). Theres a hefty entry fee, but its trifling compared to the cost of a 200 mile trip.

I was under the impression that it was a good deal more than that. When I last visited Stuttgart their museum was a long room in a forgotten corner of the factory (with room for about 15-20 cars in a herringbone pattern); so this is only hearsay from before it opened.

I attend the new Museum last September and the cost was 8 euroes - take your PCGB membership and you will get in for 4 euroes.
Hardly brakes the bank[;)]
Another recommendation whilt in the area is to visit the Mercedes Musem which is also in Stuttgart

I know sounds daft but whats the parking like near the museum??Nearby?Safe?
Really realy want to go.

I was there with John last September and I can honestly say that it is fantastic, and you can easily spend a day there.

There is a coffee shop and 2 restaurants too. Though the Christophorus Restaurant is rather expensive and its advisable to book - so I am led to believe.

As for the garage? Have a look at the photo. You cold eat you dinner off the floor its that clean!!!

Had lunch at the Cristophorous restaurant last summer. The view is nice and the meals are good though it's slightly over priced.
You pay for the thick napkin and the butler's constant attention, which I found slightly embarassing. Might not have noticed it if it had been more crowdy, they were busy with only three or four tables. Still worth it though.

(A group visit to the museum is planned on Sunday May 9th to complement the local meeting of May 8th, in the interest of attendants who will stay overnight :) )

Eight Euros isnt dear at all no. I had read that the entry fee for the new museum was going to be twenty Euros per person; which did seem steep.

we went last year, stunning day out, you want to go on the factory tour as well, this can only be booked before hand so, but i would reccomend that you do both while you are there, its a fantastic insight on how these fantastic cars get built[8D]

The underground parking is round the back and has two floors with a lift that takes you up into the museum lobby, collect a ticket at the lifting barrier. Take your Club membership card and get a 50% discount off the entry fee to the museum and 15% at the museum shop. There are guided tours at cost but I would hire the audio headset to listen to each of the car details as you get to them ask at the place where you pay for the entry ticket.
