Porsche newbie saying 'hello'

Hi all,

After 30 years or so years as a petrolhead I've finally managed to work my way up to my ultimate goal and bought my first Porsche! I got it a few weeks ago and I am hoping to come along to some of the runs/meets once the better weather comes in. The car is off the road for the winter and I truly can't wait for the spring so I can get to drive this awesome machine again. I rather frustratingly, only got to drive it 3 times before it went away as its far too precious to me to subject to the icy/snowy/ salty winter roads.
Looking forward to seeing some other Porsches and also meeting some of you good folks.

Hi Iain what area are u from as we have a monthly WEST meet up in Glasgow at Sherbrook hotel 1st tues each month .. always a good crowd and a few members with gt3/rss .... East guys meet up last thurs of month at Dakota hotel south Queensferry Gordon

Hello Gordon,

Thanks. I'm near Arbroath so I'd probably just nip down to the South Queensferry meet as that's just over an hour away.

Hi Iain,

Welcome to the club - I've been a member for 6 years now . PCGB have a great scene going on here in Scotland. I recognise your car I've seen it somewhere before and I've also seen that picture before . Does it have a Sharkwerks exhaust ? Are you in Aberdeen ? ( I have the same car but in the reverse colours )

Look forward to meeting up at some point,

Cheers
Barry

Hi Barry,

thanks for the welcome. I did post a pic up on 911uk and also mentioned the Sharkwerks exhaust; which sounds amazing by the way! That may have been where you saw it. The car came from just north of london.

I'm not Aberdeen but I believe there's another Orange one up there too. I'm near Arbroath.

Be good to meet up once the weather improves.

cheers,

Iain

Ah thanks for confirming that - knew Id seen it before . I would love the Sharkwerk exhaust however my car has the 12 month Porsche warranty currently in place and they can be very funny when you start changing bits & bobs . Ill fit one when the warranty expires . Anyway , happy 'RS'ing and im sure well cross paths at some point .

Kind regards
Barry

First Porsche - 997 Gt3 RS -- respect due , nothing like jumping in at the deep end.
Sharkwerks will sound amazing , but not for the trackday noise police !!
Fabulous car look forward to seeing it , Knockhill , May 9th ?

Hi Mike,

thanks, yes it is a real 'jump into the deep end' but knew I'd like it!

Sharkwerks makes an incredible noise and you're right,I doubt it would pass most trackday noise tests.

9th of May I would have come along but I'm already going on another Porsche run over to Applecross with an overnight stopover, can't wait!

ull be ok at K/Hill with that exhaust.... but every other UK track [] I doubt it .... Ring will be ok and prob get away with it at Spa that's if ur keen on what the car was built for [8D][8D][8D]

Hi Iain, and welcome to the Club. Being in Arbroath, you are probably in the Scotland North Region, where we hold meetings near Aberdeen and and in Monifieth, near Dundee. Of course Region 1 will welcome you to their Glasgow or Edinburgh meets too!

The next Monifieth meeting is on 19th February, about 8 pm at the Milton Inn on Grange Road. Gill Gardiner, Assistant Regional Organiser for R2 will be there.

Drop me an email at r2@porscheclubgb.com and 'll get you on my mailing list.

Cheers,
Steve Rose

Hello Steve,

thanks for the welcome.

I'm only 10 mins from Monifieth so I could easily pop down on the 19th though I won't be in the Porsche. How many usually attend this meeting?

cheers,

IainRS

Welcome Iain, Our "Inbetweeners" meetings in Monifieth range from 7-14 folk but normally around 8-10 every meeting.
Our meetings are quite informal an always very enjoyable and we also have the occasional nite/meal out as well as various runs.

Graham

Thanks Graham,

I fully intend to come along to the next meeting. I take it there's not food involved at this one, just a natter over a coffee?

Yes some have had coffees but most have a few beers/wines as quite a few of us are within walking distance.
Food is available as the Milton Inn is well renowned for its meals and some of us have had a meal before the meetings.

Hi Ian, welcome to the club. Car looks cracking, real hardcore for your first porsche! Your health to enjoy it, roll on the better weather. If you can post an update with any pics and route info once you have done the applecross run that would be great, it's on my hit list for this year.

Hope you get out in you car soon, but am sure you are enjoying drooling over it and polishing it over the winter! Enjoy.

Graham; cheers for that. Food sounds like a good plan.

GJN, thanks. I'll put up some shots of the Applecross run and happy to give you any route tips etc on the area. I've been over it many times, its an awesome road. Even done it twice on a road bike which was pretty tough as its a 2000ft climb to the bealach.
Lol and true re the drooling over it though I haven't polished it yet.
April can't come soon enough! I'm sure lots of you guys are saying the same thing. Luckily I've got something else noisy and quick but with 4wd to keep me entertained till then[;)]

Hello Scott,

thanks for the welcome and compliments. Orange can be a bit 'loud' on most cars but it just seems to be perfect(in my eyes anyway!) on a GT3RS

I seem to be in a nice central location in regards to attending meets North or South....

I'll send you a PM with my email details. Edited to add; YOUR PM STORAGE IS FULL!!

cheers,

IainRS
