Update:-

'Three days after the Autosport show Tim Newman was diagnosed with a brain tumour -while we looked at our options he took a couple of weeks out. Sadly he has not been back 'in' since and is receiving treatment now, but it has knocked him flat.

Marcus, ex of Easytrack, said he would look after the fort for a short time. Melvin Spear and Paul Howells were unhappy with the situation in POT, and asked to be officially declared 'Out' some time ago. Marcus built the website but also held/holds all the funds and database/control. Mel and Paul didn't want to be involved if Tim wasn't at the helm, plainly he is not at the moment and may never be.

Marcus himself put dates on the POT website without any consultation with anyone. We understand that the Zolder day will still go ahead under a private arrangement with the organiser.'

Thanks for letting us know Melv. I was thinking of booking the PoT 'GT day' in June at Oulton Park but that now looks like a bad idea without Tim and you guys being involved.

Best wishes to Tim at this time.

I don't know Tim personally but make sure you look after your buddy. Someone close to me was diagnosed with a similar condition last August and it has not been an easy journey.

Best of luck gents.

Thats a real shame about POT, but clearly its all about Tim.....I really hope that all works out....the C word is v. scary indeed.

Thanks for the update melv.
Having very recently lost Dad to the ravages of Pancreatic cancer i am only too well aware of what Tim must be going through. Please send my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Send Tim my best wishes Mel. I met him for the first time at the Autosport show - he was very welcoming with a lot of time to chat and share his passion. Hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that Laurence .....

Melv, please pass on the best wishes from the Irish RS Day Contingent to Tim. He has always made us feel more than welcome.

Have just read the following on the long EasyTrack thread on Pistonheads:

Zolder would like anyone intending on visiting the circuit who booked via ET or the Porsche RS group, or any other group connected that EasyTrack nor a Porsche group have booked the day. PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP, the initial interest from joe (from memory) at Easy Track was NOT followed up and no contracts were signed or deposits paid. Zolder have sold the day to another company.

As it happens one of the Belgium Porsche owners who had booked the day via a third party and not ET direct turned up at the circuit wile I was there. It was made clear to him that ET never had this day and neither they nor anyone else should have sold places without a contract. The gentleman was advised to ask those who had booked to try and get their money back from their credit card company but obviously Zolder had no involvement in this and please don't turn up to the circuit on the day.

In addition there is no way that the cars those who have been contacting the circuit or that this gentleman has mentioned would have been able to run at Zolder. Noise limits are extremely tight for anything other than a std road car at 95db driveby with transponders fitted to all cars to help police this.

So PLEASE do not turn up at Zolder in June on the EasyTrack / Porsche RS day as it 100% isn't happening, do NOT blame Zolder they had no idea places were being sold. I have no connection with Zolder other than running a number of club track days there and taking our race series to this great circuit.

The thread is here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=1272327 and the above is on page 22.

Please read on. At the present time it is only the trackday that has been cancelled. We are still in talks with Zolder in regards to holding a meeting at the venue on the same day. If you had planned on coming along, please don't cancel any plans yet! I will keep you all informed. I should know by Friday.

Everyone who paid to drive on track was made aware of the situation last week and knows that the trackday has been cancelled - so hopefully no-one will turn up and be disappointed.

Thanks for your patience in this unfortunate matter.

Martin

Looks like MSV have decided to launch their own Porsche only trackdays:

http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car-home/porsche-only-track-day?utm_source=MSVT&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=porscheonly&utm_campaign=MSV+Car+Trackday+7+June+2013&utm_source=emailCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=

....and a certain 'old' 964RS owner has made it into their photo gallery a the bottom of the page! [;)]

Seem reasonably priced! The Brands one some £60 cheaper than the clubs advertised price for the evening event ! Sticking point insurance wise is non "club" day or ATDO membership?
