Porsche Race Season Starts Sunday-Snetterton

Honorable 944 owners;

I'm mirroring the GT3 Resister Secretary here in that he has invited GT3 owners to visit his pit area in Snetterton at the weekend. Steve Russell is running a GT3 Cup car in the Porsche Open series and as I own a GT3 I am going to be giving him some support in running the register.

Like wise and in parallel with the Open, I'm running an 944S2 in the Porsche Club Championship. So I'd be happy to meet and chat with any 944 owners that wish to come along.

There are around five 944S2's running in Class 2 (including Segrue who won the Championship outright last year in his garish Orange 944S2) and a couple of Class 3 944 Turbos (heavily modified) running in the Open Championship. A stack of 9442.5 and 2.7's are running in both series as well.

If you are interested in knowing what makes you car tick, come down to the race circuit and find out. No one knows more about these cars than the people/teams that run them on the track.

You are welcome to come and have a look at my set up if you want to learn on how to prepare these cars up for the track. Of course subject to me being underneath the car trying to get it ready for the qualifying and race sessions!

Sometimes I have spare entry tickets so you are welcome to have them on a first come first basis, just give me a call before you come.

After a major rebuild following a serious GBH assault by a 968 at Brands Hatch last year, I'm on a tight schedule to try and get the car ready for Sun/Mon 16/17 Apr - first drive hopefully on Sat.

cheers

Light Blue 944S2 - No.57

Call me anytime if you want more info - 07749 964993

PS. Fen, Glacier Blue on the car looks superb, the best colour in the range, I used the code you gave me to good effect!!!!!

Andy - all the best for the season. Snetterton is a bit of a trek for me, but when you get closer to home (Thruxton? Combe?) I'll try to be there to support the best coloured S2.

Andy
Hope you have a good start to the season....

Ill probably come + cheer you on when it comes "up north"....[;)][;)][;)]

thanks for your support guys. I'll keep you posted.

Lali, are you competing! Saw Art's car in Kevin's (EMC) place today. They are working hard to get Alex's new car (944 2.7) ready for Club, Class 3.

Actually Fen, Combe is next race after Snet, May 1st. (Softer Leda settings definitely required here).

Thanks for the invite Andy, I hope a few of us will take you up on it as the season progresses. We'll have to organise a group outing to one of the races.

I don't think I can make this Sunday at Snetterton (as I'll probably still be painting my sills), but if I can I'll pop along to say hello.

Yes thanks from me too, Thruxton or Coombe would be better for me too, will try and make it to one of them, Good Luck at Snetterton!
Tony

Combe sounds good to me too, you can get a good view of nearly the whole track from up on the banks so it's easy to keep an eye on the action.

Next year for me now Andy... I know its sad but I couldnt really do a season that didnt include Spa and Donnigton!! I'm sure I'll kick myself for the whole year but hey ho...

I'd love to come but I think it will have to be Brands for me, good luck anyway Andy

But what's all this 'Glacier Blue, best in the range' nonsense [8|]

Scott, Donnington's not on the calendar this year, must find out why. With Spa it was the only place ran well at.

Matt,
photo to follow as the car has just got out the paint shop. And its flat out to get the car ready for Sunday.

Don't follow the others too closely, that fresh paint will mark very easily []

Eh, nightmare start to the new season, engine problem 9 laps into race one (suspect big end or piston ring issues on Cyl No.3).

This was really a shakedown run for me, that didn't quite work!

Engine was untouched from last year save new belts, rollers, clutch, fluids etc.

This is a low mileage engine so I'm intrigued as to root cause.

Coupled with braking issues............tried to drive round the problems but was off 3 times, rear locking cause 270 deg lurch after braking from 130mph down revette straight, underpants surprisingly intact and unspoilt.

So, need to take the engine out of my nice white S2 roadcar!!

Oh the ups and downs of racing.............I'll keep you all posted.

andy

PS Car on trailor where it spent mosty of weekend. Stayed to watch race 2 on Mon. New comer Alan McAteer took a superb win in his 968, a stunning drive

Sorry to hear of the engine troubles - otherwise all going for you; excellent choice of tow car, perfect colour for race car and a flag from God's country on the back [;)]

Hi Andy
Sorry to hear about your challenges...
Hope you get to the route of the problem....???? + your next outing goes better ...

Just out of interest, Where did you get the MICHELIN number plate decals from...?? Ide like a pair of those....

Dave,
Steve Kevlin the Club Motorsport Manager is the custodian of graphics. Call the club office and ask for him.

PS I'll give you a bell tonight.

Fen, God's country in deed, actually a bigger flag is planned for the roof sometime, once the gremlins are sorted.

andy

Arrrg [] bad luck Andy.

Hope you get to the bottom of it quickly (lucky you have an identical road car to rob the engine from [])
