Happened to speak to them the other day, current rates are based on a special rate of £55/hour

12k service £557.40 including vat, this inc £140 of oil and 3.9 hours of labour!
24k service £791.40 including vat and £140 of oil and 6.9 hours of labour!

you can save a bit seemingly(but do check) you can supply your own 10 litres of Porsche approved oil

equivalent prices inc vat at Northways are £282 and £462

But would you trust them with your air cooled? Try Guildford -service manager is an early 911 nut!

Yep ... best told over a few beers... rather than on the forum ... we all have our different opinions and experiences...good and bad...

I think this is a useful thread for a basic question that has been bothering me: My 993 has seen quite a few independent specialist garages over the years. I was contemplating whether I should pay the extra money once to get it to an OEM Porsche garage. Is it worth it: Form a technical perspective? From a value perspective (i.e. an all clear on the books from the OEM) Best M

The biggest problem we all have is finding a specialist or dealer that we trust, who knows about our cars. To be able to use a Main dealer you have to be sure that they have mechanics that know about 993's i.e. 15 years plus experience and that they are not on any incentive schemes to sell extra work and parts. So they need to be recommended by fellow 993 owners. I was fortunate to have Northways recommended to me about 14 years ago by a work colleague and have never had a problem, they basically tell you what needs doing and what can wait.

Similarly I am very put off when I hear about anyone who is getting or giving bonuses based on quantity of work. It is all well and good to encourage people to be efficient but when someone gets paid extra to do a job quickly as opposed to doing it more thoroughly and taking longer... well I would worry about leaving a 993 with them.

This was more to do with being incentivised to list essential work that needs doing i.e. new disks and pads, clutch on way out etc. As opposed to taking less time, which happens as a matter of course. i.e. a std 993 service quoted by Reading was 3.9 hours and for the 24k 6.9 hours . The Independants are pricing in around 2 hours and 4 hours respectively.

Hi What does this 12k service include other than the oil change? Mine was done at Hatfield which I found very competitive. Costa

Sounds like the major service is priced similarly to a 996 Mk II GT3, which is £880 less 10% PCGB discount. However, I'll also want brake fluid (£100) and airbag check (£56 I think). The GT3 24k/major service includes spark plugs which is the biggest difference to the minor service. Dan.

The price quoted at the opc will be to porsches schedule.I.e the oil change will not include the filters themselves, Ill bet northways and most other indies 12k service would include both filters as well.Making the 12k at the indies basically a 24k major less spark plugs? tiptronics accepted(24k is the interval for oil change and trans filter.) Btw four hours for a 24k on a 993 is not really enough to have a good look around it and complete the required jobs. Cj
