Heard rumour at weekend that Porsche reading may be moving to a new site on the M4 close by as they have sold their site to IKEA who are building a new store at the Calcot retail park this year. Any truth in this?

I would have thought that there was enough empty retail sites and land around the Porsche Reading site without Ikea needing there site. Remember Porsche GB are nest door are well. Mind you plenty of spare land next to there Parts warehouse down near Beenham.

I will make enquires.

Hello DRDT, I visited the centre recently, and as Regional Organiser for Thames Valley, I tried to arrange a brief meeting with the Centre Principal, having given advance notice that I was coming to collect some parts. Given that the centre told me the Principal was in the midst of discussions about forthcoming investment in the centre itself, to me, it doesn't seem likely that Porche Centre Reading will be moving any time soon. I don't want to elaborate and steal their thunder, but if they were going to move I don't think they would go ahead with what they are planning. Why not try this post in the general discussion area instead, you are rather limiting the response by posting in the 996 register forum.

The comments relating to this online refer to an area behind Porsche. Most of it is spare land or derelict buildings according to the bits I found. Can't see Ikea doing it for five million if they have to pay Porsche to relocate.

I visited the centre again today to pick up parts for the 996. I mentioned this in passing and the staff have no knowledge of a move. Porsche Centre Reading themselve have plans for some of the land "over there" pointing in a direction generally parellel to the m4. Sorry to be so mysterious
