Porsche Silverstone Driving Experience

Was invited a few weeks ago to attend a driving experience day at Silverstone last week.

Me and my son took turns to drive a Cayenne & 718 Boxster on the public roads around Silverstone and then on their test tracks.

The Cayenne is very impressive for such a large vehicle. Had one go on their "ice hill" and lost traction at one point at the back end which was interesting.

And driving the 718 around the handling circuits made me realise I don't push my 981 hard enough around country roads to explore its handling capabilities.

But then I do normally have a "control device" sat in the passenger seat.

Great fun though followed by a three course lunch.

just discovered the forum (I’ll add a proper introduction soon)

... I was there the week before ... I asked the instrustor to show what my T was capable of ... absolutely brilliant advice: using more of the road, braking harder, smoothing the transition and properly mashing the accelerator... I’ve never been so fast on a “B-road” (loop 1 does a good imitation)... I’m sure I maxed out in 3rd =100 mph.

Mesmerising experience! ...just need to figure out how to get invited again?? :)

I did the Silverstone Experience day you get for free when you buy a new car. Excellent fun and a great day out. It's a long way down South from our region but I made a mini break out of it staying at a nearby Spa hotel.
