Porsche & The Rolex 24hr race at Daytona, Florida. Jan 26/27th

A bit of good fortune has just come my way.

As you may know, I came 2nd in the Porsche Club Championship in 2012 and the guy who won cannot now accept the prize. So it has been passed onto me - I am off next Thursday to Daytona in Florida to spectate at the Rolex 24hr race, never had anything like that happen in my life. Some result for coming 2nd!

Got to decide who to support out there, possibly Nick Tandy or more probably Sean Edwards who just won the Dubai 24hr race.

It occurred to me that some of you guys on here might have some insight into this race and the track, any info would be helpful.

I see from the entry list Richard Westbrook has a Corvette drive....hasn't he been in the Porsche Cup? At least this time he's got a car with the engine in the right place!!

Aell done, by the way...what a fantastic jaunt!

Seeing as he is one of the most successful racing drivers in a 911 around, I think he might disagree with you! [;)]

.......... I plan to give a bit of a running report from a Porsche perspective when I am over there, watch this space or try me on facebook.

It has been suggested that I take my helmet, what are the chances ??? (nil, I hear you shout!)

I did notice some Caymans at the slow end of the entry list, one of those would suit me just fine! Mind you I would need a fairy godmother to provide the cash as I hear that costs of 24hr racing in the US are about double that in Europe for similar motors. Don't know why that should be.

I would take your helmet and gear, leave a sticky up somewhere that a british 24 hr driver is available for last minute spot...!
You never know eh?With your Dubai podium fresh and still warm who knows!!!??
THAT would be a hell of a story!!!!

Mark, thx ....... it would be so amazing if it happened.

For now though, all I want is a free upgrade with Virgin Atlantic and that seems just as unlikely!
