I would suggest a further spray of WD40 and a harder tug !
When the socked moves down , it is not a 100% vertical down movement, but more of a gentle clockwise arc motion, so try pulling with the force directed downwards but slightly to the left

mine did the same after 6 months of not using it
it should swing down after the bar is deployed;
Mine needed some persuasion, hen worked fine
Will keep trying but looks like it has never been used as tow ball still has paint on it! Could have been in the up position since 2003!!!
Looks like has never been used.
Does anyone know if you can buy the electric bracket on its own? Think I can knock out old part of pin if I can get new part.
Has anyone got any ideas or had same type of problem.
Pulling my hair out now with it and I don't have much left as it is
