Despite people telling me that there are better cars to use for track days Autocross Rallying etc , I still cant get away from the feel that I want to get involved with some motorsport . I'm sure I am only interested in representing the Porsche front engined community since these are the cars I'm interesed in [:D] and anyway arent they supposed to be superbly balanced they cant be that bad on the track surely !

If anyone is using/racing whatever a 924/44/68 in the near future : central to Southern England please let me know or at least post it on the forum as I would like to attend flag wave eat hot dogs whatever but get an idea what goes on. Ta

There will probably be a few 944/968 brethren at the Goldtrack Silverstone day on Oct 28th.

I don't think there are any Porsche Club races left this year. The race season is over, but there are a couple of Club track days left at Castle Combe on 31st Oct and Goodwood on Nov 14th

Thanks for that , I have also found a ' rallyschool' type company that do days at North Weald which is practically down the road from me. Alsoscouring the web it seems that there is a very well known motorclub based around Herts called the Green Belt Motor Club , I'm sure I remember them from when I was but a boy [;)]

I'm thinking maybe I need to visit a motorclub as they say they try to help novices in to Motorsport and that's me , the novice [8|]

On the contrary - they are superb on track. I think that what people are saying that if you want an entirely track focussed car there are cheaper ways you can achieve a quick and fun car than to start with a 944. It is hard to loose that much weight in a 944 - You'd struggle to get one under 1000kg when you can get something like a Golf GTi down to about 800 kg with a good 200 bhp under the bonnet for alot less cash. However if you compare street cars in street trim then the 944 can easily hold its own against some pretty tasty machinery. In fact I've seen a well driven stock 944 turbo give a couple of GT3's a good licking. I'm no driving god, but on one trackday I did at Donington where there were alot of Elises (I think I had gatecrashed a Lotus trackday) my very average driving skills and my pre-KW equipped car certainly wasn't embarrasing itself against the Elises and those cars that passed me on the bends were easily reeled in on the straight. I know Donington is a track that suits a 944 moreso than an Elise, but still I was impressed by the 944's relative performance.
