Porsche vodafone tracker

Hi,

Thinking of changing insurer to LV (already have another car with them), but they require the Porsche Vodafone tracker enabled on my GTS 4.0. I know there were issues with it around the time I picked up my car in January. Are folk still having issues with it, or have they been resolved now?

Thanks for any feedback.

I've had their trackers on all my Porsche cars since 2011 with the GTS and never had a problem.
Thanks ralphmusic. I do have a weak Vodafone signal at home which is a bit of a worry, if it causes false alarms/failed health checks.

I bought my 718 GT4 on Apr 1 2021 and the tracking system, which was faulty from new, was finally fixed on the 5th attempt about 2 months ago. Initially the problem was, I subsequently discovered, a software fault on the computer servers. On at least 2 occasions my OPC, who frankly didn't have a clue what to do, simply performed a hard reset of the tracking module which involved tearing down the dashboard to get to the device. Needless to say, as the problem was in the server, this didn't solve anything. Eventually, the software problem was fixed, and, after the 3rd visit to the OPC, I got the car back with the tracking system apparently working. This was something of a false dawn as I soon started getting calls from Vodafone informing me that the car was being stolen. This was caused by intermittent disconnection of the GSM antenna (the system uses a cell phone to communicate the car's location and status to Vodafone) which the Vodafone system interprets as somebody tampering with the system. I suspect that the constant dismantling of the car interior (to allow the hard resets) caused a connection to become wonky. Believe it or not, despite being told that the problem was intermittent disconnection of the GSM antenna, it took 2 more visits to finally get a fix.

In summary, the main tracker problem that I (and at least one other GT4 owner) had was fixed probably around April 2022. In my case, another fault meant that the tracker was still not working till about September 2022, but I think this problem was particular to my car and its history.
