PORSCHE WARRANTY/ASSIST

I had decided last year when the increases in warranty costs were announced that i probably wouldnt bother renewing but rather liked the idea of still having Porsche Assist. Quick call earlier tonight informed me that for £155 i could continue with Porsche Assist without renewing the warranty. Whyilst i appreciate its more money than other levels of cover it is their premium service and for £155 what the hell!

Over a normal "top level" AA or RAC service, which costs about £70 a year, what do you get though? I too am not renewing my warranty (can't) but don't yet have a recovery service, so I'd be interested to know.

From our RAC visit a couple of years ago [;)]

A dedicated team that look after Porsche assist, so not just the usual call centre.
European cover, Porsche trained technicians, not guaranteed to get them though, although you are offered the option of waiting for them, they carry a level of Porsche spare parts like coils and spare wheels.

Its an option I will be look at, although I'm sure some will no think it worth any extra...

All the above as Gary said plus a loan car whilst yours is out of action. If it's not continuing cover then they recon they charge £225 which then really is a rip off.

Renewed my Porsche Assist but did not renew the warranty.

Had my money's worth - when the clutch cable went on the Isle of Man - had us picked up by people who knew Porsche's - so simple things like knowing where the hard points are to put a stand under so he could check the problem - without damaging the car.

Ferried us back to Hotel with car, then from hotel to new ferry which they re booked for us, pick up at ferry transport to meet hire car, transported car home for me and then arranged pickup for transfer to local OPC.

Would have cost me way more than the £155, service was excellent and simple things like re-arranging the ferries for us make life a lot easier if your stuck somewhere. On the two occasions I have used Porsche assist over 3 cars, the service has always been excellent.

so from experience - well worth it.

Can someone post up how you went about renewing the cover.. via the RAC phone line etc...
Cheers
