PORSCHE WARRANTY

A post on behalf of a friend, if he changes the wheels on his 997 will it affedt with his Porsche warranty?

As long as the wheels he is changing to are original porsche with N rated tyres he should be ok. Anything else, then probably no.

There is a big warning in the owners manual about using aftermarket wheels. So this would almost certainly affect warranty on anything related to the wheels. Personally I didn't care as I didn't want the extended warranty anyway.

This has cropped up elsewhere and also relates to other manufacturers, not just Porsche. In general, OE/approved wheel & tyre sizes - not a problem, Aftermarket/approved wheel & tyre sizes - a grey area. Aftermarket/non-approved sizes - would invalidate any consequential claim. Latter mainly effects the big SUVs (X5s, MLs, Cayennes, RRs) with oversized wheels and tyres. Of course a lot depends on the generosity of the individual service department.

tks chaps. hes basically just bought a c4s from OPC sutton coldfield and ideally wanted turbo wheels so is now on the hut for some replicas. personally i recon he shud look at use official ones. replica on porsche shop.com are circa £900

If the car is under the OE or used warranty given with purchase of the car, as long as the wheels meet applicable standards, the warranty wouldn't be affected. He would be refused an extended warranty, though, even if fitting genuine Porsche wheels, unless an OPC fitted them for him.
