Interesting Question

My Oil Level guage in the car show FULL (Actually 1 bar over!!)

Dip the Oil and it shows half way down

Does it need resetting - Have just reset my iCarsoft i960 Scanner and resetter

THe car is on a slight slope

(Title edited to read 996 and not 966 !! [:D])

The gauges and dipstick are very sensitive to vehicle inclination, so it is always best to check and compare on level ground.

Thought so - thanks How long should I leave the car before I read the Oil Level These Porsche are strange beasts arn't they

The count-down timer should tell you when it is OK. I always used to check mine while it was in my garage before I started the engine, first thing in the morning, as it would display the reading within a few seconds. I know you are supposed to do after the oil has got hot, and then left to drain back into the sump, but I felt I got more consistent readings doing it from cold.

I spoke to a Porsche specialst in Wales and he knows my problem (ie Oil in Water) I want to monitor how much oil I am using So have got the car on ramps using spirit level would the Side Cills be the best way to check if the car is level If so it is now reasonable level THANKS AGAIN
