Does anyone know a company called Naito Auto in Japan. They appear to have some very interesting cars in particular a number of low mileage rare Porsches. Also has anyone any experience in importing a Porsche from Japan to the UK.

Naito are known , never heard anything bad abt them , duties same as USA .........LARGE! unless u can show Eu taxes paid within given period .

Porsche cars in Japan usually come from private collections[not all Japanese owners ] range from superb highest standards to very poor almost joke jobs ...................pretty much like most countries in fact !

Shipping costs, 10% duty on purchase price, plus VAT, very expensive, duty free if exported to Japan within 3 years
and returning to country of origin I believe, the viper green 993 RS clubsport now sold as is the white 993 rs clubsport,
these were originally sold to Naito by Tom Schmitz of H & S in Germany.

I know a guy in Hong Kong who imported a 993 RS and a 964 RS both LHD from Japan. Both were immaculate and very low mileage. A lot of cars like this are for show rather than go in Japan. Although is a RHD market a lot of exotics are LHD, this is considered more prestigeous in Japan for some reason.

Are we likely to see either of these cars soon in the UK? [;)]

Duty and VAT not payable if car being brought back into EU within 3 year time period and it can be shown that all taxes and duties paid and not refunded before car was exported. For VAT purposes, car has to have been exported by you or on your behalf for it to be ex VAT upon return. 3 year time frame can be waived at Customs officers discretion as long as all criteria for previous duty / tax payment have been met.

Car needs to be in same state it left EU - ie. no RS clubsport to GT2 clubbie conversions outside of EU, not that Mr Customs man is going to know etc.

Above all relates to personal importation - if putting it through company obviously a bit different.

I spoke to these guys over the phone and I have to say their attitude sucks. My brother also phoned them and said they didn't sound very pleasant. The 993RSCS in red that they had on sale was bought buy them just shy of £51000. My brother test drove the car before the guy from Naito bought it but he felt that the story given buy the original dealer selling the car didn't sound quite right so he walked away. I did tell him he made a f***ing big mistake!
