ORIGINAL: Buddy Watch out for the boys in blue, I'm told that North Wales is still zero tolerance on speeding!!!
I don't think it's such an issue more than anywhere else these days. We got a bit of a reputation for it when Richard "Mad Mullah of the Traffic Taliban" Brunstom was Chief Constable but he's been gone for years now. It's nothing like the M6 near Brum where there is a speed camera on every 2nd gantry []

May 18th Llandudno for those interested, I'm told that it was a very good day last year and I know that the day before there is a track day at the Angelsea Circuit, ideal for the 4 R6 region Cayman owners and others can enjoy a longer drive.

Watch out for the boys in blue, I'm told that North Wales is still zero tolerance on speeding!!!

Good to hear that Andy, I always think there's a lot of danger in sticking too religiously to the limit, sometimes you just have to put space between you and someone else. A prevent driving in blocks of traffic, as an old ex police friend of mine said "drive the box" keeping a safe gap around you. Didn't Bulstrom get done for drink/drive?

No, don't think so, he got done for no tax in NZ, and came out with all sorts of excuses.... Hope the reporting officer said "We heard them all before"! http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/richard-brunstrom-traffic-taliban-police-3063234

A pity he didn't get done for speeding as in NZ they book you at 5kph over the limit. It would have been ironic.[;)] And now we have M1 in Yorkshire being dropped to 60MPH with others possible![] There is a government epetition in protest. Wouldn't it be better if they made all the foriegn trucks land within a 150 mile range of their delivery point rather than clogging the motorways all the way from Dover![]

Even better, Kevan, to get more freight off our congested roads and onto our railways. In the long term it's the only way we're going to reduce (diesel engine) pollution on our motorways. Jeff

Jeff, I work in emissions testing and the limits set for vehicles over 2.5 tonnes are much higher than cars even when they are only just over 2.5! Add to that the fact that the things run 11 hrs a day with one driver and possibly more on long haul. A 60 mph limit just makes everyone travel in blocks and boring enough to nod off!! If foriegn trucks were limited on the range within the UK as in some other countries, ( I've seen train loads of loaded trucks crossing Austria by train ). And internal good as you say sent by rail or for that matter barge, the road system could work much better.

All We will be on the prom, travelling up Saturday & returning Monday. Travelling up from Gloucestershire. Thought we would make a weekend of it. Hope the weathers good. I hope there are some other Caymans there. They always seem to be scarce at most rally's etc for obvious reasons

Hi Trevor I have consulted with the weather Gods and they assure me it will be a balmy day with brilliant sunshine. See you there Brendan Daly Operations Director Chairman Motorsport

I plan to be there, where can I find details, I am a newbie with a 2008 cayman 2.7, Black alloys, red paint , pic to follow

All the more reason to join our fabulous Club!! Porsches on the Prom is as simple as turning up to the promenade at Llandudno on Sunday morning, 18th May and parking your car with the huge number of other Porsches that will be there. It is free to enter and no pre-booking is required. If you are making a weekend of it, the Club will also be at the Anglesey circuit all day on Saturday 17th May, spectating is free but some spaces may still be available on track - ring Steve Kevlin at Cornbury House on 01608 652911 for further details if that appeals - it will be an excellent Club track day.

I quite like the comfort of insurance too... Ideal start if you've not done one before - full safety briefing, you are only allowed out initially in a slow convoy behind an instructor led car, one to one tuition readily available at modest cost, all at a fantastic circuit alongside like minded enthusiasts.

Start by asking your own insurers, mine allow 2 track days a year. Standalone policies can be dear, am afraid I have no recommendations as I've never had to use one.

Hi Kev Is anybody from our club going to Llandudno or the Track day ?, I am quite interested in having a drive out ?

Hi Me and the Mrs are travelling up from Gloucester on the Saturday afternoon ready for the prom event on Sunday and returning Monday Stopping locally Like you never done it before but have done other events Should be good Trevor

Hi Kev. I fired off the message before I had finished ! Its Kev from the club. Regarding the reference to the Bears monitoring speeds on the A55, I hit my my PB there on a Police Advanced driving course. Nowadays, you cant go over the speed restriction by more than 20mph. Cant disclose my terminal velocity for obvious reasons ! Let me know if there are any takers. Regards Kev.

Hi Kev, I'll be there and we've been promised good weather ( see Brendan's entry somewhere above ) but I'm only there for the Prom event not the track day, no idea if others from our region are going. Since you are new to the forum it's useful for each of us to put an approximate location such as I have so that when asking where can I get this done? People have an idea where you are and it's surprising just how many good specialists can be found through forum contacts. See you there[:D]
