Porsches to Photograph

I contacted Mel (Melv) about posting something on here about getting some cars to photograph and he suggested that i put up a sort of CV and explain who i am, what i am about and what i am looking for so here goes:

A bit about me:

John Rampton

33 Years Old, I work as an IT manager by day and run my own limited company with my business partner doing printing, design and photography.

I'd describe myself as honest, kind fairly easy going and very generous with my time. I like to help others as much as i can and i like to think this helps in both my business and day job.

I've always been into cars, from a very young age i was rarely without a car in my hand or pocket and many times i would be my dad's assistant working on MK1 escorts. After leaving school my dad bought mum a Beetle so naturally the obsession with air cooled VW's and Porsche's followed and at 16 i bought a 1959 Splitscreen van whilst my parents where stationed in Germany and imported it back to the UK.

I had a passing interest in photography when i was younger as well but really got into it in 2004/5 and i started photographing cars and started reading forums about how to build a car rig, this started off my car photography and i spent alot of time and effort self learning but also doing alot of landscape photography.

2007

I went to see a friend off on the Cannonball Run Europe and took a number of photos and was recognised by the organisers who asked to use my photos.

2008

Cannonball Run start these were used for the Cannonball Run DVD Cover and i was credited as well.

It doesn't sound like alot of work until you take into consideration that was all done in my free time whilst holding down a full time job, raising a family and over the past few years running a business on the side as well.

Please see my LinkedIn page for my recommendations from clients including Tonbridge Porsche.

The reason i am contacting people via 911UK and Porsche Club GB Forum is that i have set myself a new goal / challenge and that is to try and photograph every model (well as many as possible at least) of Porsche for the 356 right upto and including the new 991 911 and 981 Boxster I am hoping that this will again challenge my creativity and hopefully teach me some new skills along the way.

I intend to collate all the images at the end into a photobook or at least display them somewhere as a whole so that others can enjoy them. If i do put them into a photobook i will most likely do this via Blurb so that i can make it available for others to buy if they wish but from the outset its not a commercial venture.

If i use your car for a photoshoot i will give you the edited images this is normally a pretty fast turn around as i can't sit on images long i like to get them out on display as quickly as possible.

I've organised most into sets so they are easier to view but here are a few that might interest the most.

Hi John. I'd be happy to help you out depending on what you require and where in the UK you are. Email sent.

Hi John,

Email sent [:)], with regard to 'displaying them so others can enjoy'.... there was a recent post regarding brightening up Cornbury House & what to put on the walls...... I would think that would be an ideal place & provided 'free' would work in your interest too!

Only my pennies worth.

Paul

John,

If you're close to Tonbridge, the Kent Region (R25) monthly meeting Wed 13th June at the Kentagon Suite, Brands Hatch, might be good for you - it's also the PCGB novices track afternoon, so there should be a goodly selection of cars there, from Charles Marsland's yellow 356 coupe through 924, 944 and 968 (my cab, possibly Nigel's coupe) and others.

Interesting as i run my own canvas printing company on the side :D I will search out the post and take a look.

Thanks to everyone that has been in touch so far i have a few 964RS's lined up and a couple of others as well.

Currently also looking for:

996 GT3/GT2
997 Targa/Cab/C4S/C2/GT2/GT3RS/GT2RS
993 GT2/GT3
968 All
944 All
928 All
356B

Then i can start my search for the 550, 959 and GT1 plus anything else i have missed

Happy to help with any 944 models. I'd personally prefer to act as an intermediary, giving the opportunity to people who've been active and helpful in the past, rather than being called on at the last minute to find the odd difficult car. [:)]

Thanks to everyone that has contacted me so far, i have already made some really good contacts this forum has been fantastic.

Hi mate it's a battery powered strip light from homebase, it's the longer of the two they sell the short one is a bit useless.

Yeah I use a remote shutter release that I can lock open and then walk the length of the car and some, wear dark clothing and keep moving and the camera doesn't pick you up. You do a few exposures and stitch them together in photoshop using different layers.

Hi All,

I have been offline for a few weeks as my wife gave birth 29th of June but now that i am back to work and a bit more normality i am looking to get some more photo sessions sorted out.

Anyone know of any 959's in the UK ?

Also i still need ever Cab model i noticed as well, haven't shot any yet.

Thanks,

John.
