I used Motortune once when I had my 944 Turbo, sometime in 1998. Recommended by a friend.

They were ok, until you have a problem.

If you **** off the owner, I can't remember his name, you're in trouble; I had the car in to replace rusty fuel lines. I knew that he'd be using his own parts to replace old lines, but I bought my own, which annoyed him, and told me not to do it again (maybe he makes money on parts?). Fair enough, but I'd had some leftover from a previous job.

Anyway after picking up the car it drove like an absolute dog. I turned round and went back and he drove the car and agreed there was a problem, but not relating to the repairs he made. I told him the car was absolutely fine when I gave him the car, and then he went off at me again because he was fed up with people taking their cars away then making out they are worse than before.

Anyway we parted company, and I drove home, with the car still driving badly.

When I got home I looked under the car and noticed some silver clamps locked over the fuel line (obviously they'd put them there when replacing the rusted lines, to stop the fuel running out).

No wonder the car wasn't running correctly, he'd obviously forgotten to remove them, fair enough, but his attitude sucked big time.

Never used him again after that one... nice enough bloke but don't **** him off.

He even asked me to post the clamps back.... ???

Try David Philips, Edinburgh. 07965 144434. He is ex-Porsche Edinburgh mechanic and very good.

+1 for motortune, always a great service in the 3 years i've had my car. Peter has always been honest and tried to save me money rather than spend it, even when i'm happy to do so.

I agree with Brian. I use George Morrison his Knowledge is incredible on all makes of Porsche from my 356 to my 997. keep the faith Tom

I would use Stuart SP Autobahn, he is Peter Morgan specialist approver in Scotland and looks after my 996GT3RS
