Portiacraft ...

only heard of one associate who bought one... not good i am afraid!.....just make sure you get it checked out

Diesel130, try 911virgin.com. they sometimes have some nice cars in & very nice people. what are you looking for if you dont mind me asking?

I have purchased two cars from them in the past and have no complaints.

I had a slight problem with the Boxster I had from them, an engine mount needed to be repalced which they did without any arguement. I traded the Boxster with them for a 996 which did not give any problems over the two and half years that I had it.

In my opinion they offer cars at realistic prices but without the frills of some dealers.

Virgin 911 have been known to sell dodgy cars. Take care with whoever you use.
Caveat Emptor

I use to work in the motor trade and to be honnest they are going to sell what they can, i went to Portiacraft when looking for my 996, i was not that sure about them, who ever you go to i would get an independent view on the car, either take it to an opc and get the 111 check done or get someone like Peter Morgan to check it out for you if you want his details i can find them he does iinspections and is meant to be Very good.

Cheers Phil

We purchased our first porsche from them and had nothing but trouble , just a few problems listed below !!! Leaking petrol tank, thought i could allways smell petrol ?? lots of wires from various things like old alarms , stereos , etc not been taken out ,and when we phoned to talk to him about the problems he just hung up the phone my advice DONT TOUCH THEM

Only one piece of advice that I can offer - get at car with full Porsche service history so that you can an extended warranty. Yes the warranty does have it's limitations on the annoying water tanks etc etc, but the really expensive stuff like engines and transmission are covered - it aids restful sleep!!

I bought a 964 from Portiacraft around 6/7 years ago. I wouldn't buy from them again.
I have had 2 cars from Prestige & Performance (911Virgin) and would go to them again.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice - sounds best to stay clear. Cetainly their web site doesn't look as professional as most. Hanging up the phone - that;s disgraceful.

Unfortunately, my bedge is only stretching to a 993 or 1998 996 and will be out of the warrantee period within the year.

Ho hum.

I would not be put off a good 996 get it checked out you can always put 1 years warranty on it just to see how it goes in the first year, and just enjoy.

Phil

Hi,
I would stay away from these guys.
I was looking for my 996 last year, and they said (reluctantly) that I could take it to Porsche for the 111 point check, but would not rectify any faults brought up by the report!
"Porsche are too fussy" he said.
911 virgin can be arrogant at times too.

Personally I would really make an effort and trawl Autotrader or this site for a private car and then get it OPC checked or by a known independent.

I found a real gem in Bristol and it was just 4 years old and had the spec I wanted....be prepared to travel too.

Good luck
