Hi folks, I need to replace front disks and pads but was wondering on your thoughts on wheather to go for more expensive OPC fitted Porsche parts or save some money and fit aftermaket parts? cheers all.

I suspect you'll get a varied response to this. I have used OEM parts i.e. not from Porsche but same manufacturer and found no real discernible difference to the genuine discs that were on the car before. Both in terms of performance on road and lifespan. One thing to note is that most makes of modern discs seem to rust far more easily including the Porsche discs. I think it quite possible if the car is used regularly the discs will rust quicker than they wear out!
Some will tell you that the Porsche discs are specially made and have a different chemical make up and therefore brake better and last longer, I have never seen any tests to prove or disprove the argument. What is likely is that in the design stage The manufacturers supply porsche with varying discs to Porsches specification and when Porsche find a combination that works the very best they purchase it from the manufacturer and place copyright on it . So what you get from the manufacturer may well be different but how much , who knows. I guess you pays yer money and takes yer choice.

I am ordering textar pads/sebro disks from Design 911 again this week.

The second set I've bought in 5 yrs for my Boxster. £200 & VAT for the front, same for the back.

Would not think of anything else.

Laurence you could well be right re rust, its because of "corrosion" noted on MOT that they now need replacing, recent OPC check shows 27.4 mm left with 26mm min recommended, so rust got there first not wear!

ORIGINAL: 911sse

I am ordering textar pads/sebro disks from Design 911 again this week.

plus 1 for the textar sebro combo, performed the swap on both my previous Boxster and the C2, relatively easy operation and no discernable difference in braking performance

Well folks i went down the OEM discs and brake pads yesterday, fully fitted @ £356.00, cant believe how much better my brakes are! it also removed slight shudder in steering that my mechanic could feel pre fitting but i could not, the steering on the 987 is fantastic feedback wise but its even better now, PS OPC fitting price was £770.00. Im well pleased.
