hi,

i currently have a square dash 944 and will possibly replacing it with or
adding a 924 to my ever growing collection!

-do the 924's share the dreaded rot as 944? is there any standard rot spots to look for?
-do the two litre variants have drum or disc rear brakes and if drum can the early 944 brakes/924 s brakes be fitted...with hubs?

any help greatly appreciated.

A very few 924 with the m474 option had 5 studs and all wheel discs, but they would have a dogleg box not unlike the turbo but with a smaller input shaft.

As for corrosion, a 924 will rot but not to the extremes that a 944 does I have seen them with sills fairly shot away , for me the worst place is the sill around the front beamlift point. a give aways is a sticking throttle pedal caused by distortion in the floor when you jack up using the beam pick up point. In the wing behind the front wheel is also a favourite nesting site for the metal moth.

Via ebay at £50 a corner the axles can be converted to discs.

hi,thanks for the reply.Just generally looking around i get the feeling the 924 was less prone to the tin worm, which is frustrating as a 944 owner as the entire 944 is hot zinc dipped were as the 924 is only lower dipped!!

Would i req any other parts for the rear conversion,ie if i simply remove the drums is the disc hub just a straight bolt up affair to the standard mounts?
