possible clutch trouble

Can anybody give me a bit of advice with a problem with my clutch. The peddle seems to be lower all of a sudden and when the clutch is used there is a werering noise coming from somewhere. The clutch has also started to slip a little when cold.Is this terminal for the clutch or could it be the slave cylinder thats finished. According to the invoices from the previous owner the clutch was replaced at 82000 miles , it now reads 96000.
Could anybody point me in the right direction to a garage in the Thurrock,Essex area that will do a good job for a reasonable price please.
I forgot to mention that this is a 1989 S2 944 , Ive seen a few people looking but no feedback yet perhaps thats because I didnt mention the model or is it me beeing stupid again as a new owner.

no its probably because it is such an open ended question there could be several answers and also we have plenty of lurkers that wouldn't post the time of day in case they got it wrong lol.

Without testing and looking, my first guess from your description would be hydraulic. I can't see a 944 clutch wearing out in 14,000 miles . Mine lasted 72,000 .

I assume that you have made sure that there are no fluid leaks from the master /slave cylinders and the fluid reservoir is filled to the max line yes ?!

Next I would suspect the slave cylinder seals have gone or the master cylinder seals . Both simple DIY jobs for a competant DIY'er
Check the colour of the fluid in the reservoir. If it is dark grey or black that would indicate that your seals have gone .You could attach a bleed tube to the clutch slave cylinder and bleed some fluid into a jamjar to check there is no air in the system and to check the fluid colour.

Don't let a garage talk you into a new clutch without checking and replacing your slave and or master cylinders first . Clutch is a very big job on these cars and can cost upwards of £950.00
