I possibly be adding another one to the "collection" decision this week, late guards red S2, it's done a few miles but has been known to me for a few years, all the bodywork repairs have been carried out by my mate Stevie, bottom of the front wings and sills which I have witnessed, sills now stone chipped and primered and needs paint, wheels are turbo d90's and need A refurb and some wear to the bolster on the drivers seat.
I have a few trade mates and should have it all done for around a grand, it will be very presentable once done.
I have acquired some further garaging down at my mothers who has a few good quality garages that she lets out, a " customer" has been given 2 weeks to move on, plenty of money but was too keen on paying his bills.
£40 pm for a 19 x 10 modern block built garage in a secure compound !!
The old lady has just told me to use it as she does not need the hassle, this has gone a long way to making my mind up.
Watch this space.

Buying the car tomorrow, Mark will be putting 12 months MOT on for the agreed price, doing a mini service, oil and filter plus fluids, off for paint then putting it back together whilst the wheels are being refurbished.
The car sits back end down a tad, is this normal with late model S2's ?
I like them to sit level, so rather than pick the back end up on concentrics I will look to drop the front 10 / 15 mm.
163 k on the dials but still drives tight ??

It's the S2 in my little photo on the left , will you get the H3BUF plate back off Mike, it belongs on that car Jim.

i bought the car in Eastbourne in 2003 I think, my second S2, was a good motor, give it the Frenchy treatment !!

When I pick my new GTI up we can recreate this image from a few years ago Jim.

My late S2 sits only a little low at the rear....not that much that I'd start fiddling with it yet!

It does appear to roll in heavy cornering (track day photos etc) but is that just squat as I accelerate out of a corner? Asked Paul at Northway his view, and his opinion was that standard set up is fine for road use, stiffening/lowering might improve track behaviour but with a trade off in ride quality.

I'd be interested to know what you end up doing...

I will keep you posted Graham, no rush at the moment paint is priority then wheel refurb.
