Possibly a new owner

Rather unexpectedly I'm hoping to become a 997 owner. Due to an extra car arriving on the drive (my 17 year olds mini) my wife has agreed that my 996 targa is going to be a pain to get in/out the garage and we can sell that and her Mini and buy a 997! I've looked over a couple and found a fantastic c2s in red on a 2007 with 39,000 on the clock and the dealer (ADW near Worcester) seems very genuine. But I'm going to loose toys like the targa roof, full electric heated seats, auto mirrors and at £29k its right at the top of the budget and then some. My question is do I hold out for one with more options or will I forget all this when I get behind the wheel?

Follow your heart Ben, you'll love the 997.

But if you must be logical, what was your logic for not running the 996 as your regular car and banking the cash made when you sell the mini?

Hi Ben

i used to have cars with lots of gizmos on automatic this automatic that but when you get behind the wheel of the 997 it all doesn't seem to matter really. It's not like a normal car. All a bit better, all a bit special. Not comparable. You won't miss them I promise, apart from the heated seats of course!!!

Guards red is very popular in 997 Register and I particularly like the wheels.
The S coupe is a very fine drive and personally I wouldn't worry a jot about the lack of a targa roof or auto-dimming mirrors. I would probably miss heated seats, but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me if everything else were up to scratch.
Unless you're experienced, I would recommend getting it professionally inspected prior to purchase though.
Good luck.
Regards,
Clive.

Thanks for the replies. The mileage really will be the killer for the 996. Between the two of us it will be around 12k per annum and its already on 79k now. The heated seats will be the greatest loss.

Adw have seemed to get everything done even getting a full major done after the last owner (who they sold it to) only did 900 miles in 18 months. They have had a bore scope in too.

I've had 3 cars off ADW ( still have 2 of them), always found them to be very fair and genuine guys with lots of integrity, they go that extra mile in preparing their cars just as if the cars were their own.
997, very nice in guards.

Guards red..mmmmmm. go for it! [:D]

I second that [:)]

The mileage and price seem very fair. The car looks smile generating stunning in guards red
However PPI prior to purchase please - if all goes to plan you and Mrs B will not miss the toys [;)]

PX they have indicated £14k so very fair. I'm not sure on the PPI (please don't throw hands up in horror) as ADW are excellent as Steve has said. They have let me inspect the car at the garage that has prepared it (RSR auto in Bromsgrove) and i know Richard the owner well and trust his judgement (and work)

If that's the case Mr Ben time to own the guards red rascal !

And the parking issue vanishes to :p

OH NO! the red c2s may have been dealt a fatal blow. Zoe (My wife) sat in a cabrio and 'quite liked it'. It's a no as it's silver (my thing as i won't by a silver car) but this has chucked a spanner in the works.

Just tell her the ragtop gets discoloured and lets the rain in, you can't see out of the back window, it'll creak and groan and is heavier so it uses more juice and you'll be fine - and who wants to join the silver brigade anyway! :ROFLMAO:
Regards,
Clive.

I've had both and I much prefer the coupe. But the cabs are fun when it's not too hot or too wet.

It's silver, it's a cab and coming to a drive near here soon.....[:D] It doesn't creak or groan - well, not yet anyhow!

Advise her a ragtop lowered could seriously spoil , possibly ruin her hair if above 4,000 revs in 5th

Imagine the grief at that prospect [:(]

Plus the coupe mit fixed roof is pure !

Hurrah - your negotiation skill would put David Cameron's to shame with the EU.

Either look an extremely wise choice.
The guards red by a mere fraction for me but black does look equally superb.
Too close to call. Toss a coin for which one with Mrs B !!!
