Hello
I am thinking of updating my 2001 Boxster S and I'm looking at a post 2012 car with the PDK gearbox and for reasons I'll not bore you with I could do with adjustable lumber support. Can anyone tell me if this was available and was it on any particular model or particular years? it's an option that never seems to appear in adverts.
Wishing everyone the best possible Christmas and thanks for your help.

John,

I suppose that you’re looking for a 981 Boxster? I don’t know if it was an option back in 2012 but to get adjustable lumbar support I think you’ll need to be looking for something like the currently available 18-way electric Adaptive Sports Seats Plus.

I’ve always found it rather puzzling that adjustable lumbar support isn’t a standard feature when it’s generally available on a host of other cars which are a fraction of the price of a Porsche.

Thanks for that Jeff, yes I was thinking 981 although I might be tempted by a 718.
I share your puzzlement, I have a load of nuts and bolts holding my spine together (titanium of course[:)]) and really need to adjust the seat to my back rather than the other way round. I love the car I have but more than a couple of hours gets to be hard work and I would love to do some serious touring. However its not only Porsche, in 2016 I almost bought a nearly new Mercedes SLC and was amazed at the lack of drivers seat adjustment.
Thanks again Jeff
Cheers John

Also worth checking if the 14 way electric sports seats include lumber. They lack the additional side support of the sports plus version, but may suit you.

I have a 2016 981 Cayman with the 14 way power memory seats and these have the adjustable lumber control.
Very useful on a long drive when your back starts to get a bit stiff. I just change the seat back positioning and it takes the pressure off my back, then when I get in the car again the memory function reverts to the usual settings.

Thanks
That's exactly what I'm looking for and you've totally summed up the problem I have.
So the search starts here, there does not seem to be many cars advertised with this option listed but I'm not in a rush.
Many thanks and all the best.
John

I had the 18 adjustable sport seats on several porsche and they are fabulous
first box I tick along with PDLS

Yes I had a long wait to get mine, 6 months or so before it turned up with all the features I wanted. But worth the wait.
cheers
