Pot holes

My local council (Bromley) doesn't seem to care much about the condition of the roads. The number of pot holes and surface irregularities is increasing. I shelled out recently to have my geometry set and I didn't really want it unset. Is it possible to make a claim on the council backed by photo evidence?

I have had similar issues, but mine was with a builder, as the council had not taken over the upkeep of the roads. There were neighbours who also suffered damage, the worst being the front valance of a Seat Leon being ripped clean off. This was presented and results were forthcoming.

I'm not sure if this was the builder takeing responsibility, luck, or volume of complaints, but it worked.

For what it would cost to photo the road and get the evidence, including costs to put right the vehicle, you certainly wouldn't lose a lot to put forward your complaint with a request for remedial action and compensation.

As they say, you don't ask, you don't get.
