Potential 944s Purchase

Hello all

I am hopefully tomorrow going to look at this car.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/909446.htm

It'll be the 2nd 944 I've owned, my first being a 1982 Lux. I've had a look at all the buying guides so know most of what to look for, I'm just concerned about how to check the cam chain and tensioner? I obviously won't be able to pull off the rocker cover so is there any dodgy noises I should be listening for?
If I did decide to change them are any special tools needed and what is the costs of parts? I'm OK at most things mechanical so it wouldn't neccesarily put me off....

Any other comments about this car are appreciated, I love the colour scheme personally, strange as that may seem!!!

Thanks

Brian

The chap took it as a trade in, he's going to check the documentation for me tonight and let me know about the tensioners. I've also asked about water pump and clutch. I've looked at the Clarkes Garage site, the tensioners themselves seem easy to change. I shall be listening carefully to it when I go to have a look. Interior doesn't look that bad to me? I tend to find I can't see the seats when i'm driving. Most of the time anyway...

It could be a lot of fun but I would have issue with the toast rack rear valance, and the aerial sticking up out of O/S/R wing, the latter being definitely non standard.

But if you like it, and the interior wear doesn't bother you then I say go for it as I'd rather another Porsche be kept on the road.
There's bound to be a linen interior coming up soon anyway what with people stripping their cars our or upgrading the leather etc, etc.

Why is the S so unloved ? [&o]

As to the car in the ad, I paid similar for mine back in October with only 95K (fully documented), the interior was immaculate apart from a small split on the drivers bolster (and it is small), and the bodywork/sills very good so, unless all the important things have been done recently and it is mint condition, I would keep looking.
