POTENTIAL for sale :( my 2.7 Lux

OK - so over the last few days - something personally has happened that may mean I have to sell the Porsche!!

Cant believe I am even having to write this - but it may be true and its not a circumstance that I think will change...!

So - firstly I need to understand what would be the correct asking price for the car, and to gauge how quick I could sell..

I think most have seen the mountains of pics that I posted not so long ago :) - if not here is the post to them all, and here is also one:

Porsche944_01.JPG

Details as follows really:
1989 Porsche 944 2.7 lux
84K
Full Service History from Porsche and Porsche specialist with all invoices and receipts (last service at GT One this Feb).
- Recent gearbox oil change, speed reference sensor change, brake fluid renewal etc etc
Belts change just last year - approx 4 - 5 k ago
16" Cup One alloys with Very good Mich tyres
MO30 Koni Suspension setup
AirCon all working
Excellent body work
Rear valance
Everything works!
Blue Pinstrip interior (split rear seats)
Baltic Blue colour on the outside
Complete new brakes with EBC GreenStuff pads

Only two bad bits I can think of are Dash cracks and a small rip in the rear upper seat (could well be sewn up).

So - could I have some advise please on a good asking price with a relatively quick sale in mind - but not that I am going to give her away?

Thanks Guys

Anthony

HI Anthony, sorry things arent tops at the mo , I hope they improve as soon as is possible. I never value folks cars on posts now as they will guaranteed not be happy with what you tell them in today's market.

All I will say is that I like 2.7's and thought of buying one a few months ago .If I was looking I would buy your car. Your car is worth whatever a top door 2.7 is worth ( minus the dash situation and maybe a rear seat which isnt dear) but to balance that you have better suspension than most. So just look at what they have ' actually sold for' and that is roughly what you should expect. Maybe a few folk who have bought one recently will P.M you and tell you what they actually paid as that is the 'only' true value of anything.

Best of luck to you

Mas

Come on chaps - I know people dont like putting a price on these but I really need to know where to start:

4K?
3.5?

Dont worry about offending... But it is a good en! :)

The 2.7 is one of the rarer 944's out there but it doesnt necessarily make is the most desirable.
If its a really good one, all belts sorted out, clutch done, no or little rust then i would start around the £4000-£4500 mark. Perhaps 4500 is a bit too much but you could always start around there and come down later?
If you need to sell quickly you may need to come down more. Have you researched Parkers, etc? Did you get your PCGB valuation through?

Edd

Ok thanks Edd...

No valuation through yet... would be good to get that very soon but not sure how long they are due to take.

I think its prob one of the best 2.7's about at the mo.. all belts etc all done as you say and body is brill.

my own guess (and I am no expert) is £3.5k, on the basis that a nice S2 should be £4k, but then yours is low mileage.

My gut reaction would be £3500 maybe asking £3750 for a tip top Lux like this one. Don't think the market will give much more than that at present sadly.

Just received my PCGB valuation today - so thats good.

Do you think this can be a guide on what to put the car up for? It does say market value - but I think it may be a little high for a relativly quick sale?

+1. I'd agree with that.

Sorry you're having to sell. [:(]

More of an agreed value insurance value, than a figure at which the car will sell, I feel.

Potentially agree - thanks

Was going to post the valiation figure - but wasnt sure if that was ok - I guess it is?

The PCGB valuation will be a good bargaining tool when you come to sell, even if it is a bit optimistic. Remember that alot of us enthusiasts are always looking for a bargain and so value these cars accordingly. One thing I learnt last year at the classic car show was how many people were suprised how cheap these cars are, which indicates to me they are willing to spend more...

Find a price you are happy with and set the car a smidge above that, then use the valuation to resist the buyers will to lower your price too much and hold your guns and see what happens. I am no expert but that's what I would do. Good luck.

Edd

Its certainly a good bargaining tool and Id definitely mention it i the advert. Unfortunately I dont think that the cars will sell for what theyre 'worth' though. Id be interested to hear the valued amount too btw.
