Potential new 911-992 owner. PASM +"power steering plus" & Porsche Dynamic Chassis Contro

Hi folks, I'm edging closer to an order and as one might expect I'm spending ages on the configurator.

I'm looking at a new 992 C4S. It will be my daily drive. I don't anticipate any track driving.

I'm going to spec the front axle lift. I foresee a few trips on and off ships and just want to be sure it wont scrape.

There are three other options. I'm thinking are probably aimed more at folks who intend taking their car on a track. am I correct?

1) PASM sports suspension (10 mm lowered)
It's not a crazy expensive option given the price of the car £665. My only concern is that it might make the ride firmer? Any thoughts?

2) The other option I have seen is rear-axle steering. I have ticked "power steering plus" . Rear-axle steering is £1,592. Other than being a bit more manoeuvrable in town is there much of an advantage when on a "spirited" back road drive? As I say I wont be taking the car on a track.

3) Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) - would this make much of a difference in day to day driving or on a spirited back road drive? Or is it more aimed at track driving?

Thanks for help & best wishes

1.) Spec this. It provides optimum ride for all conditions. You have the ability to set the ride stiffness.

2.) No to PS+ (unless you're letting your elderly maiden aunt drive it, that is!) Yes to RWS - improves high speed handling and road holding by increasing the contact tyre patch and reducing understeer.

3.) Yes - it's a common misconception this is only suitable for track use. In fact, variable rate roll bar settings provide a greater level of ride comfort for normal road use because roll stiffness is uncompromised.

Even if you think you will not exploit all the benefits from these options yourself, bare in mind it's a high performance sports car and your successor will undoubtedly be looking for such features.

+1 for Clive’s comments - as you can see he has ordered and driven many porsche and his advice is well learnt!
i emphasise his comments - power steering plus is cheap and unnecessary
the PASM does what it says- allows you to adjust comfort suspension/ sport sus.
rws is brilliant if you ever take corners!!!
and pdcc is also great in normal spirited driving
good luck and enjoy

BTW - Having driven both 992 C4S and C2S, for me the C2S Coupe is definitely the sweet-spot of the model range. [:)]

On my cars I always go for RWS and PS+. The reason I go for PS+, our parking slot in the apartment is very tight, and this helps (MRS JONES) to park.

Entirely understandable Huw, but since it's a software patch, it can always be added at a later dated if needed. [;)]

The main complaint seems to be it retractes from the steering "feel" - something you don't particularly need with the EPS systems installed nowadays.

Clive

You're a brave man letting the Doris park in a confined space!

Speaking as the owner of a C2S living in a mountainous and cold in the winter area I'm a little surprised about the number of UK owners who opt for the C4S. How many have to drive with snow or sleet lying on the road? How many would even want to. I have 4WD on my BMW 120d Coupe because that's used to get to the ski slopes and its essential. But not in my Porsche which is fine in heavy rain and even light sleet which it was yesterday morning over a 2,000 meter pass. And 4WD without the right tyres is not as good as 2WD with the right tyres, and my C2S has the Pirelli summer tyres but it's still surefooted enough even in bad weather. The only thing that will stop it is ice but then 4WD is no better on ice than 2WD. Discuss.

Hi , I speced my car with PASM, Rear Wheel Steering and PDCC absolutely brilliant to drive. on the road I would say it was better than my GT4

Clive is absolutely spot on with this. I can't tell you how many times I have not recommended PS+. It came on 3 cars I bought and I removed it very quickly.... Good job its an easy fix.
