Potential Scam unravelling!

Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about the car shown on this website, i can post the registration number if that is allowed?

http://www.ferdinandmagazine.com/porsche-944-silver-rose-turbo-for-sale-uk

Reason I ask is that I saw an advert for this car for sale in Bristol, didn't believe it but emailed the seller. I've had a response back saying that due to divorce and work the car is in Dundee where he now works, and is up for sale at low price for quick sale...... BUT he will only deal using "the escrow services of a delivery company because they offer the highest rate of safety and reliability during online transactions - this way you'll be able to inspect the car before paying me and I'll be sure that I have a genuine buyer that isn't going to mess me around."

The email I received includes the same 6 photos as in the website above, but also another (different) 6 as well. This is an interesting fact that bears out as if it is genuine, but as always what is too good to be true never is.

Any thoughts?

Tell him that you have a mate in Dundee who has offered to go and look at it for you...that'll flush him out...it's a total scam of course....

I'm in Dundee every day.... If it's there I would go and have a look for you !
Ask him for an address to view, if he replies I would most definitely go and have a look..

Good ideas and thanks for the offer Contraband, I'll email him back and see what comes of it. On a separate note I had a mate who a couple of years ago got scammed for about £7k for a camper van, all too good to be true etc etc, that was through a really convincing eBay website clone, using PayPal as well. They wouldn't entertain giving him his money back......

Just to make clear, the hyperlink I posted leads to the 2013 advert/article. It's purely coincidental that the same car is the one I'm talking about within this thread.

I'll keep you informed of further comms, I'm up for stringing him along for a bit.

I bought this car in January 2014 and it's safely tucked up in my garage [;)]

Martin,

Absolutely thought it was a scam, I've been checking the silver rose website in your signature block but of course couldn't pick out anything from that, and I was going to pm you but thought I'd just widen the query within this thread.

If you are interested Shall I forward the email wi pics I got from this guy? I don't know what can be done about it so I'm inclined to just delete the email and continue with my search for a turbo...

Cheers

I'm trying to find it again..... I've been looking at so many sites its taking a while to find again. I'll post once found.

ANYTHING mentioning 'escrow' is ALWAYS a scam.

Pretty much bang on. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck etc etc etc ....

Oli.

Is it a horse ?

Tsk! If that's your attempt at gaining membership of the PCGBFPC then you've failed!

The answer is very clearly 'a Llama'.
