This is still a way off for me as I want to see what the facelift brings but I love the spec debates....what do people think?

Thanks....

Mex99,

Good spec, but go for the PSE instead of the tips, the sound will get you looking for tunnels to drive through!

You will love the 997.

Ooopps, didn't read it properly, it was the addition of the tips that fooled me, although I would not worry about changing the PSE tips as they look nice as standard.

Great spec Mex99, very sporty, go the whole hog and get the performance kit.
It is on my spec list for my next one [:)] In fact all the sports parts are!
A GT3 is too much for everyday use.

As Ronnie rightly said, Sport Chrono doesn't include PSE.
If you choose PSE you can't have the tips, since the PSE already has chrome tips.

A lot of this is personal and so the rule is if you are happy, go with it.

My view? ditch the coloured seat backs and centre console and go for the adaptive sports seats and perhaps leather rear center console. My 'phone module works well ,but there is many a duff one, according to the site. Consider saving the money and getting the multifunction steering wheel.

With all those extras, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a GT2?

Agree with Alex. with all those options you'll loose a boat load of cash come re-sale....
All you really need is Bose & PSE, but PCM is required for best re-sale + maybe heated sports seats & cruise because they are relatively cheap & useful!
Yes & DO wait for the faclift it will along next autumn, get your order in now!!!

Nowhere near the cost of a GT2....
I have a similar spec on the luxury items and thats what they are... they make the car a nice place to be..[:)]
We should all now know that we lose money on the options, but whats the point of owning a car that you don't enjoy, just for someone else to have the benefit. ??

Many of the options you'd have to put on the GT2 anyhow... [&:]

Darren, if the cars yours and a keeper then its a great spec to own, just be aware that over optioning the car can hurt you at resale time..

I'm sure AlexL would be interested in seeing the Ruby Red..

Turbo yes, Carrera I already have a few pics...

Bit late to change my mind now though, mine rolls off the production line in only a hand-full of days now [:D]

Thanks for all the comments - I would love to go the X51 route but I really do have to restrict myself to some form of budget; I'm also assuming that the facelift will be DFI and lift the bhp to the 375/380 mark anyway. This would be a great compromise and I could still have somewhere to aspire to in the future. I will also make an effort to listen to the PSE; I do struggle though with >£1000 just for a better engine noise - am I missing something here?

I called into OPC Swindon today for mince pies and coffee and talked the options through. They said painted seat backs and rear centre console may be a bit much in red and advised me to consider deviating stiching on the leather and red seat belts / dials instead. Or maybe splashes of carerra red leather to break up the black. Not a bad idea.

They also said that there appears to be problems with the Ruby red colour as all orders for that are queueing at the moment. They also said nothing deffinate on the facelift but got to be next year some time.

I'm a bit of a live for the moment kind of person, and at these prices I think I'd rather get the spec right than worry too greatly about resale. In my experience resale prices are always disappointing anyway. I guess I would keep the car for 4 ish years also so it would balance out OK.

Probably consider the turbo wheels too...

Thanks again.

Darren.

i think the turbo wheels look great[:D]

If I were getting another Carrera myself I would definitely go for the SportDesign wheels 2nd time around. I thnk they really suite the Carrera body-shape.
