Power for a car **phone** charger issue

I have put in *phone* chargers in loads of cars, though having tried to do it in my 997, and seem to be running into an issue…

Basically, running a fuse jumper / adapter against a couple of different fuses (which are ignition switched), though in both cases the charger charges *a phone* for a second or so, and the switches off, and so on…

I have tried a different cable and different *phone* charger, and have the same issue - the power seems to drop in and out…

I wanted a power that is switched so there is no drain when car is left in the garage for say a week without use…

Has anyone had this issue? Has anyone hardwired in a *phone* charger successfully - and if so, which fuse/location did you use?

A common method is to attach a conditioner (CTEK being popular) via short tail leads to the positive battery post and an earth on the suspension turret as pictured below. The CTEK is then connected to the tails via an extension cable routed either through the gap between the frunk lid and front PU or up through the back of the frunk.

Thanks both, and apologies, I was clearly tired when I wrote this!

I do use a ctek charger via the 12v cig lighter plug - works very well.

What I was trying to ask…was about a car phone charger…arghh!! Huge apologies for the confusion here!

I have edited it a bit above to make it a bit clearer (with *’s to show what I changed!).

The cigarette lighter next to the handbrake is switched. The one in the armrest is permanently live.
I plug my CTEK in adj the handbrake and it charges so it must be different on the my GTS (permanent supply) I was unaware that there is a cig lighter in the armrest !
