Power Steering Fluid

Is there any scheduled change of the power steering fluid?
I've just cut of the end of the pipe on the bottom of the resevoir and re-connected as it was leaking and thought how long does the fluid last. I've topped it up with Dexron III automatic tranmsission fluid.

Don't think it's much of a job to change it. Is it neccessary?
