Powerflex Bushes

Has anyone fitted/has any opinion on fitting, Powerflex Bushes? www.powerflex.co.uk

I'm thinking of fitting some rather than replacing some Porsche parts that are supplied as bar and bush combined e.g. part number 996.341.043.06. I have a 2003 C4S with 129,800 miles on the clock.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Rgds

Hi John,
(Disclosure: We supply Powerflex Bushes.)

Depends what you want from the car, if you are using the car on the track or for fast road use, country roads etc. then the polyurethane bushes will make the steering sharper and firm up the suspension slightly. This means that the wheel geometry will be held in place better than with rubber bushes when cornering etc. making sure that the tyre surface is in the best attitude to the road, as it was designed to be.

For normal road use the benefit is that the bushes will usually last a lot longer than rubber bushes.
Suspension will be slightly stiffer so if it is only for road use it's a bit of a trade off for the improved performance.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Stuart.

No experience of them on a Porsche, but have used them on VW Golfs for years. They fit perfectly & sharpen the handling noticably over the rubber versions. Slightly harsher ride as a result, but there are always trade-offs when doing suspension upgrades. They will also last longer than the rubber versions, which helps to justify the higher price [;)]

EDIT
Holy post overlap, batman!

Hi John.

I fitted Powerflex bushes to my 993, lower wishbones. They are very well made, excellent fit and MUCH cheaper than thr Porsche option ( New wishbones ). Much improvment to handling, although the old ones were shot.

Just be aware that some of the bushes for Porsche application are not DIY, unless you wave a workshop.

Is that a sort of magic Harry Potter way of getting a workshop to appear ??

Hi All,

Looks like some Powerflex bushes then at the next service (132,000 miles) in about 2-3 weeks time.

Great feedback, much appreciated,

Best regards

John
