PPI In germany

Hi Everyone,

I am looking at buying a 993 in Germany. Wonder if anyone here can recommend a mechanic/specialist near Berlin that can do a PPI for me?

Thanks

I'm under the impression that the main dealers in Germany see far more air cooled cars on a regular basis than their UK cousins so I would start there?

As I understand it.

In the UK a 993 (or any other second hand Porsche car) to be sold in a Porsche Dealership would have to be sold with a Porsche warranty. That would be a minimum of two years Porsche warranty. I would have thought that would be the world wide standard so would also apply to Germany.

Once again in the UK a 993 to be sold by a Porsche dealership would be required to have a 111 point check. The 111 check would reveal any faults and faults found would have to be corrected prior to car hitting the showroom floor, only then would the car be offered for sale with a warranty.

HI John

This 993 is now more than 15 years old so it cannot therefore benefit from a Porsche Approved warranty.

They may put on a third party warranty - but I would also agree that a 111 point check should be done by the selling PC.

Hi Guys

The advert did say warranty but when I discussed it with the dearle, he said that as I will be taking out of Germany it will not be covered, and as it is more than 10 years old there is no porsche warranty that is european. He did say that the car will have a 111 point check and a full service before leaving the show room, but he will only do that once I have paid for the car which sort of misses the point??

Chicken or the egg, which came first? Money or the service? Most none Porsche dealers do say sometimes that the vehicle you are about to purchase will be tested/serviced prior to you taking ownership. They may say/do this to appear to be giving the customer some assurances and also as a selling point. Therefore they are only going to do these things once the deal has been struck. Just my opinion.

If you wish to have an expert opinion of the vehicle then you will have to pay someone to do those checks prior to any thoughts of handing over your money. Remember: buyer beware. If you inspect the vehicle yourself and after purchase you are not pleased with some aspects of the vehicle then sadly that was down to your judgement. If however you employ an independent to go over the intended purchase then those points will be highlighted and you purchase or not as the case may be. What you cannot expect is for the seller to do a free vehicle inspection and then you walk away if you are unhappy. Doesn't seem to make financial sense.

Are you wanting the 111 point check to highlight any problems with the vehicle? If so then I can understand why the dealer will not give you that until you have committed. I dont know what the 111 point check consists of but I wouldn't have thought it would be of anything which would put a person off of making a purchase?

John,
Very interesting reading especially the section where Porsche detail what the warranty will NOT apply to.

Hereunder quote:-

Warranty services. Besides a dynamic driving experience, the Porsche brand epitomises long service life and value retention. Reason enough to guarantee reliability and performance.

Our warranty will be honoured by any Porsche Centre and is valid worldwide. It is available for all Porsche vehicles less than 9 years old (8 years for a 24-month warranty) where the mileage is less than 125,000 miles (200,000 km) and where all warranty requirements are fulfilled.

Interesting John.

I just pulled this off the Porsche website this morning:

The Porsche Approved Warranty covers all components of your Porsche and offers the same level of service as our new car warranty. In principle, the Porsche Approved Warranty covers a period of at least 12 months and can, of course, be extended provided your Porsche is no more than 14 years old and has covered less than 200,000 km/125,000 miles. So we insure your Porsche for up to 15 years and, if your vehicle is less than 13 years old, you can choose a 24-month warranty period. Even if you didn’t buy your car with a Porsche Approved Warranty, or if the warranty has already expired, this can still be arranged through your Porsche Centre. Your Porsche Centre will be happy to provide you with further information.
