The Titanic 944 group are once again having our annual pre christmas get together at The New Inn in Heckfield RG27 0LE http://www.thenewinn.info/index.htm on Saturday 15th December from about 12:00 onwards.

There is a very large car park for mass tyre kicking and bonnet opening and the pub grub is good value and plentiful in an informal atmosphere. I can't remember the record but I think it was 17 944s a few years ago [:D] Here's one of Ricks pics to set the scene (you can tell from the angle it was after several of the Creme de Menthe cocktails he loves [;)] )

There were more there last year (though not 17) but they turned up after the pictures had been taken.

It is a excellent excuse to get the 944 out (if you don't use it every day) and always great fun. IIRC year before last it clashed with a Calibra Club gathering. [:'(] I bet they felt stupid.

Don't knock them! I love the profile of a Calibra still, and if you remember that it started out as a flippin' Vectra then it was a real acheivement!

Of course, those were all modded Calibras. Which I suppose made them look silly compared with the un-molested line of 944s......[:D][:D][:D]

It's worse than that. They were re-boddied Cavaliers not Vectra's. I've always liked the look of them as well.

From what I understand you had to modify Calibras as the standard cars would disassemble themselves. That said, some of them did look like they had crashed into the Halfrauds Chav isle.

Calibra's looked great (for their time), but the interior was standard Chavalier. Plus they were front wheel drive and if they were anything like the Cavalier I once owned they will have all fallen to bits.

Assuming all goes well with my new purchase (have I mentioned that enough yet!?), I should be there on the 15th.

Excellent news Damon, it will be good to welcome you back to the fold and indoctrinate you as a bona fide Boostie Boy [:)]

[:'(] So pretty nasty all round then.

Just imagine how they must have felt driving down the road to meet up with their re-bodied Cavalier driving chums. How proud they must have felt........until they rounded the corner to find a row of shiny 944's in their parking spaces.

Just to add insult to injury, because their cars were running, they had probably spent more on them than we had ours (well not mine, or Paul's, or Rick's or.... but you get the gist). [&:]

Turbo ownership is a great way to make a small fortune..........provided you start with a large fortune.

First spoken by Peter Morgan, I believe, when asked "How do you make a small fortune in the British car industry?"

His reply?

"Start with a large fortune."

Sorry John, but he did it better.

Oli.

I thought it was either Ken Tyrell or Frank Williams with regard to motor racing. Either way, slightly more glamorous than Morgan. [;)]

It transpires I am double booked so won't be able to join you. Hope you have a great time though and I look forward to seeing Rick's pictures.

I would really like to come, will have to get my pass stamped though[:D]

Can you make it Mark? Fancy a convoy from the North, meeting at M1 Jct15A services? [:)]

Hi all,

As per my post in the windscreen woes thread, my screen still hasn't been fitted so I'll have to duck out of Reading tomorrow which is a tad annoying as was looking forward to taking the turbo to its first meet... [:(]
