Pre-'N'ring trip check

Hi,

I'm off to the Nurburgring Saturday 26th and am thinking about what I need to get checked before I go.

My car has now done 33,400 miles and last had a service (major) at 26,000 31st July 06.

Just had a quote for new tyres at OPC Tonbridge... GULP !

Michelin PS N1's 285/30ZR18 £303 each inc vat
Michelin PS N1's 225/40ZR18 £175 each inc vat

They also recommended a full wheel alignement at £247 inc vat.

Other than brake pad depths, anything else I should check? Is it worth getting the annual service done early ?

I'm guessing the trip will be 1,000-1,500 miles... but probably 15 hard laps of the Nordschleif in there too.

Cheers

Paul

those tyre prices are crazy. I'd shop around as there are better deals out there...

I'd get a full geo done by a proper Porsche Independent with the correct equipment.

I'd also check all the fluids including brake fluid.

Unless the car is running poorly, you're probably just as well doing the 36k service on the return.

Right,

Have done tyre depth measurements and it looks not TOO bad at the moment...

NSF : 3.8mm OSF : 4.5mm

NSR : 3.5mm OSR : 5.5mm

I think that the OSR was new when I bought the car 6,500 miles a go.

Do you recon I should:

+ Get the rights swaped with the lefts ?
+ Keep them as-is and get a new full set after the N'Ring trip ?
+ Get a new OSR and keep the rest as-is ?
+ None of the above

Cheers

Paul

PS: Rawhide... I'll keep an eye out, let me know if you definatly go.

No no no no no no no - NO!

I'd leave as is - if you've not been to the 'ring before then you shouldn't be doing any more than driving on a fast-ish road anyway.

Ok, I'll leace it as-is. I've been to the ring twice before.... so I know what to expect... [:D]
