PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION ''urgent''

Guest

New member
I have booked Paul Smith of PR Services Billericay
to carry out an inspection on a 68' targa.

The vendor has expressed a concern that
PR are not suitably qualified/do not have
necessary expertise with this model. As
I understand PR have a solid reputation
and should be worthy inspectors.

The inspection is happening tomorrow
so any feedback would be extremely
welcome for my own peace of mind...

Thankyou[8|]

From what I know, PR Services are VERY qualified to look at 912's. They are early Porsche, especially 356, specialists so they will know everything about the 912 motor etc & be able to give you a proper evaluation of the bodywork. I can't see why you wouldn't use them for the PPI.

Who was the vendor suggesting as an alternative?

I'm sure they will do a fine job, I'm not sure what PR offers in detail, but you should expect a written report at least, some have a check list as well.
Although nobody can be 100% infalible it's a sure fire way of finding obvious faults which will help your negotiation.
Obvioulsy no one can tell you what horrors might lurk inside the engine for instance, but having a full and detailed history with a car will often help the inspector do some detective work, assuming they have access to these.
I wonder why the vendor has expressed these concerns, let's hope they are concerned for your ££, PR do lots of work on 356, 911 and 912 so should stand you in good stead.
Good luck
Cheers
Gavin
