Prescott Autumn Classic

I'm going to this on Saturday, mostly to watch the last round of the PCGB Speed Championship. There's also an American theme, so hot rods, Corvettes, Harleys and when I spoke to the BOC they promised a wall of death too!!

Tony Shannon (R16 RO) has organised Porsche parking in the Orchard, so I've booked my space with him.

All American Breakfast (!) from 0800...first competitive runs 0900, so I'm going to try to get there around then, so will be passing the Eynsham Tesco Extra about 0800.

A great drive through Burford then up over through Stow, then down past Guiting to Toddington.

Anyone else?

Graham, do come over and say hello. I am competing in a black and yellow SC in class 3, running number 113. Let's hope the weather behaves!

Thanks Tim, see you Saturday. Looks like the weather will be OK.

Hi James...I've missed everything recently, swallowed up by family life! At least on a Saturday morning I can slip away and no one will notice!!

However we'll be doing Front Runner on Sunday...looking forward to that bacon roll...

Yeah. No Front Runner, Bird in Hand or Prescott for me.

Jason, James, Ken and Simon are at the factory this weekend but I had to miss that too!

Luckily we had the best day of the weekend, and the parking Tony arranged was right by the stone track up the side of the Orchard so we didn't have to do any ploughing, unlike the hot rods most of which of course didn't have mudguards (sorry, fenders) so were a bit muddy!

Great to watch the hillclimbing...worth noting that most moderns snatch 3rd between the hairpins (we debated this again last May!). Interesting to note that the 911s get off the line so fast, and with no wheelspin...so it's true about traction then!

Really loved the hot rods...so cool, especially with patina instead of bling.

We had a great day out at Prescott as usual (my local motorsport fix). Great weather to watch the PCGB speed championships, enjoyed the american classics, cop cars, hot rods and dancing girls. The wall of death was a real adrenaline rush. Couldn't quite work out how the daleks fitted into the theme but was fun to watch them pootling around ...and being pushed when one broke down - so much for world domination. [8|]
