When I bought my 993 C2 just over two years ago, I did all the normal history checks that one does, including a few long and detailed telephone conversations regarding the service history and with the OPC's that looked after the car, but I had never spoken to the previous owners. So, about six weeks ago I decided to write to the three of them, mainly in a vain attempt to hunt down which one of them might have the infamous 'red' remote (only got two black ones), but also to try to find any additional history/bills/paperwork on the car to add to its history file.

Guess how many replies I got?

They either can't be bothered to reply, or whats more likely is that the've all moved. Hey-ho.
Anyone had a similar experience?

That's a shame Mike. I wrote to all the 5 previous owners of my car - one letter returned as the Company had moved, but got a 50% hit rate on the other 4. Had info sent through the post from one of them and very interesting discussions over the telephone.

'tis a pity you got a nil response.

I wrote to all mine (4) for the same reason... trying to locate the red key. Got 50% response with the most recent owner being the most helpful, though he didn't have the key!

In the end I got new motherboard and full remote set from JZ Machtech. Cost about £200 I think.

Same thing here too, tried to contact my 2 previous owners, 1 had left the country other one was helpful, but no red remote, so had it recoded, my 2 handsets refurbished and a new Red Master for about £70 direct at Hamilton and Palmer.
